Can anyone tell me if the new album is coming out soon?..I thought that I had heard on some advertisement that he was releasing an album of new music after the recent album of standards............any truth to that? I had sent Martin a very good quality copy of the Stockholm show. It started off with an excellent copy of the '79 London show. Sheesh, I hope he got. Otherwise I`ll have to raise Jimmy Vapor from the dead for another copy. If I`m not mistaken, that Stockholm tape was a Japanese only release. I know for sure the '79 London part was from a Japanese Laser Disc. Perhaps one of our Japanese Avalonians has more info on this? >Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2000 15:13:13 +0800 >From: Kicki Gustafsson >Subject: [AVALON] Swedish TV >I e-mailed Swedish Televison, asking if it was possible to buy a copy of >the Roxy Music concert they filmed and sent in April 1976. >The answer was, I'm afraid, no, due to copyright reasons. >/Kicki G It`s a sure bet that even the slightest mention of that '76 Roxy show is enough to cause widespread panic inside the station. If a copy is to come out of Swedish T.V., a massive bribe will have to be offered to someone with access to the vaults and willing to take the chance. For those interested, the soundtrack from the Stockholm show was originally bootlegged by a guy known only as John Wizardo who was a big fan of glam/prog bands. He bought a copy of the master tape from someone high up at the BBC with sources inside some major record labels and he supplied most of the studio outtakes and sound board material that made it to bootlegs by Roxy, Bowie, T-Rex......you name it. Wizardo also had a source inside King Biscuit and Westward 1 and personally taped most of the glam/prog era bootlegs including Roxy`s '75 Boston show. (Until he came along, bootlegs centered around the big boys like Dylan, Stones, Beatles, Who, Zeppelin etc.). I checked it out and didn`t see anything referring to recording streaming audio although it does look pretty good for the price. I`m still recording from my sound card`s "speaker jack" through my home stereo (So I can equalize if need) then back to my sound card`s "line in" jack using Dart Pro32 for remastering. I guess I`m so used to doing it this way I`ve stopped looking for a program to do it. I haven't listened to this for ages, but it's great. (Admittedly, our man misses a few notes, Andy Mackay is stellar except during big solos, and a couple of the Siren Songs have not aged well.... But still an excellent album.) Find this Video and send it out! I'll contribute to the bribe.... Tomorrow I am leading a corporate training session, subbing for the honchos who are tied up. I popped in for an introduction today, and noted that there are at least 3 babes that could sub in Bryan's String Sirens from the current tour. Guess I am wearing the Armani tomorrow.
