And, yes, Bryan would be impressed by our research into, say, the Ophelia poem or Duchamp. You only have to look at the sleeves of the recent Avalon CDs to pick up on the care and attention to detail that mirrors the mindset of the Maestro. The medium is going to be important to him and how he keeps "in touch" with his fan base around the world. It's going to replace letters that's for sure. For example, a few years ago I had a fine correspondence with a band by letter for quite a while. It was probably intensive work from their end but you couldn't beat that "personal" marketing. I really felt that I was on top of things with them and that they took an interest in my interest in what they were doing. Sure it would have been better if Bryan got through more questions and / or there was a video link, but for a first attempt it was good. I posted about three questions in advance and at least six on the night - mainly picking up on some of the answers - trying to be as interactive as possible. It was one of these that was answered so, to anyone who had doubts - "yes" the event was 'live' and questions posted on the night were taken. It was good to see so many familiar names being successful and so many imaginative / witty questions and answers. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2000 13:13:26 From: "Jason Gibbs" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Re : Webchat etc >. . .but give me this list anyday, with the >banter, the excellent Site and work by Kicki, the CD trees, the Vid, the >'meeting up' of members at Gigs, the info, the jibes, and the personal >prejudices all rolled into one. >All styles served here, indeed. Songs like "Out On the Weekend" or "The Needle and the Damage Done," or "Only Love Will Break Your Heart" (yeah I only know the popular ones and I really only like the early stuff with the exception of "Sleeps With Angels") bring tears to my eyes long before Ferry's cover of "Where or When."
