Let me clearly say, most businesses fail, and most of those failures are due to poor marketing and distribution practices. I agree, that Ferry should not have the time to be an avid reader of this list, and horrors to think that his life pivots upon our banter, self derision, and compulsive idol worship. But it is Ferry's business, his handlers business to practice good business in order to maximize their business. Avalon list is a potential source of information that is readily, and cheaply, available to mine. Acknowledgment of this list does not necessitate thorough knowledge of the list and its content. As I have said in the past, I am a member of the Richard Thompson list as well as Avalon. RT is VERY aware of the existance of the list. His people do occassionally check in over there, but one gets the overall impression that he is a little bit disturbed by the lists existance and focus on his life and work. One can easily imagine that Bryan would be a bit uncomfortable knowing that there is a high-tech international multi-disciplinary elite (us) analyzing his choice of hair mousse. We should not expect too much from him on this front. Were there a listserve of charming intelligent people like this analyzing MY work and life in detail, I would probably react with a fair amount of denial as to their existance. Simply, I would pretend they are not there. But I don't belive that our wanting or expecting Mr Ferry to know about us is arrogant.
