If they did that would be a nice one to see. I'm sure I can remember them performing this song on TOTP, although I have no documentary proof, just my memory... Absolutely sure they did AIWI You. As seeing them perform what Tony Blackburn (erstwhile British DJ) mispronounced as "Pyja-rama-rama" on TOTP was what really started all this for me, I'd love to see this again but never have. Is this because everybody is content to play VP footage, or that Pyjamarama is (mistakenly) thought to be a crappy single, or more simply that the BBC wiped the tape? Does anyone know? Thanks for the tip, Simon. My VCR will be primed. I spent £450 on stamps yesterday so lets just wing it across the pond and let the chips fall where they may. Checked out the quality of a couple of random tapes last night and I would urge fellow Avalonions to not be too dismayed if the first 10 minutes are a tad grainy. The picture quality seems to improve through the tape. And the sound is pretty good throughout. It's a positive orgy of Ferryana if you catch all 2hrs 57 minutes in one sitting. Open a good bottle, send your spouse down the dogtrack and luxuriate in twenty-eight years of genius. I'm pleased with the way there's little duplication of material. You gotta remember most interviews with Byron in the past 12 years would contain promo inserts of, say, Jealous Guy and rather predictable responses about "Why Roxy disbanded" and "What are your influences" blah blah. Quite apart from the surreal masterpiece that is the French soap opera, there's good insights into his childhood, college years, album sleeves, art, working style and his wit. Yours, permanently sighing, Martini PS When Kicki returns to Sweden she's gonna post a video cassette sticker design on her site that can be printed and stuck over the hilariously cocked-up title .. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2000 08:36:24 -0500 From: "Tim Kendrick" Subject: Re: [AVALON] US remasters Ida - Are these US releases to be initially in the card sleeves, or do they go straight to jewel cases? What performances, what insights, what memories. Can't wait to see the second half tonight. Highlights so far- a majestic high energy 'Thrill of it All' (even the usually immobile Hubbard boogies with the band, and I feared Gary Tibbs might spontaneously combust!) and a smouldering 'The Only Face' - exquisitely performed by our man. The dictionary definition of emotion will have to be rewritten. Well done to Martin, Jason, Kicki and everyone involved.
