You're right Pauline. I think its a great look on him. Although in one of the video collection segments - his 1986 interview with Richard Skinner - you'll notice Bryan sporting a quite unpleasant pair of cowboy boots, bulky, quasi-sharkskin, under the obligatory black suit... - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 07:40:01 EST From: ASchulberg@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] mistaken lyrics In a message dated 01/19/2000 10:41:31 PM Eastern Standard Time, nustudio@ix.netcom.com writes: << Many years ago, I played the first Roxy album to a friend, who swore that 2HB started with "Oh I was mooned by a string bean..." >> Excellent! Too true. I think it was Larry Adler who said that one of his wishes was that Bob Dylan had never picked up a harmonica! I know bias is involved but I reckon that Bry is one of the few vocalists who can actually play. It tragically happens all too often where a vocalist decides to take along something to do at a gig, e.g. tap a tambourine (Bry even got Jimmy Maelen to do this, see Avalon), play an unneccesary acoustic guitar, or at worse case play a harmonica. To be played as an instrument in its own right, refer to Chicago Saxophonists James Cotton and Little Walter to reveal the true extent of Bobs failings! "Excellent!" indeed. Quite a few years ago as well, while ascending a graffiti-filled dorm stairway in Ohio, I noticed somebody had recently added "Oh, I was moved by your scream dream". A week or so later I was lying back listening to "...Funky Chick?" when the mattress jostled and I opened my eyes to find a woman had entered my room and plopped down next to me to partake. After a few minutes, my first words to this long-blond-haired siren stranger: "It was you, wasn't it?" She slowly turned her head with a slight questioning look. "'Scream Dream'" I vaguely clarified. She smiled, nodded, and we returned to the show. Which is how I met Prudence, the only person of that name I've ever encountered (and, for Washington D.C. folks, who worked at WHFS back when it was still in Bethesda and the best spot on the dial). > Unfortunetly, it has stuck with me to this very day. In my case, I think I've always preferred the "your Scream Dream" variation. Which of course will now forever pale in comparison to yours. -wfs - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 17:33:59 GMT From: "the siren" Subject: [AVALON] website bryanferry.com has come along a lot today. You need a password to post messages on the bulletin board and accordingly access to this could easily be denied - I'm sure some of the more free speaking members of this list would come unstuck after a while there - so there's a place for both! The prospect of Bryan replying periodically to questions posted there and occassionally doing live Q and A sessions is exciting but realistically it won't happen a lot - especially with the sort of schedule he has right now. A proper official site is something many people on this list have been asking for for a long time - now they've got the beginings of one I see it as something else for everyone to talk about (especially when previously unseen [and unheard?] material starts to appear) rather than something to detract from the list.
