Brian's name was one of two that came to mind when you hinted that Bryan was talking to people we wouldn't belive. (The other - don't laugh - was Madonna.) Eno's output is pretty low-volume these days (no pun intended, Ambient fans) and his latest is available only from Opal itself. Bryan's involvement will be interesting. Eno has also been working for some time on proper songs - perhaps the Chant thing would cover them as well. Bryan Ferry probably has good reason to leave IE, despite having raved about the delight of being back with people he trusts after those managerless years in the wilderness; I hope he hasn't left just because Mr Enthoven is now managing Robbie Williams. But before we knock the BBC too much reflect on who it is who has given Bryan the most promotion - Channel 4 - nothing, Channel 5 - zilch, ITV - one song on the 'Nobel' concert and a late night profile with nothing from the new album. BBC Radio - two one hour specials in 1999, the Golders Green concert, guest appearance on Jools Holland's radio show, Net Aid (in part), just about the only radio airplay for ATGB the single ('A' list) and lengthy inclusion in Radio 2's playlist for the album (right up to Christmas on the 'C' list). BBC TV - Part of Net Aid, Later with Jools Holland, Jools Holland's Hootenanny, Greenwich (live), Greenwich highlights, the lottery (any others that my faltering memory has overlooked?). As we know someone filmed the London gig in December - given the BBC's interest and their previous plans for a TV special I'd put my money on them despite speculation of an upcoming South Bank Show feature.
