My sister-in-law gave me a heads-up with five minutes to spare. I always wondered how this indirect tax on the desperate and deluded actually worked. Bryan looked tanned and on-message. His interview with Dale Winton contained all the right soundbites. (Q : Bryan what would you do with £24 million ? A : I'd take it all home and count it.) He even looked interested as the balls came up. At the risk of flogging a dead horse I was delighted that the Cool Ruler was headlining over the The Bogus Man (Sting.) Voice sounded fine. I liked the harp centre-right stage with Colin to his left, the heavenly angels sawing away near the wings... pip pip Martini PS Remind me to tell you a true story about Dale Winton and George Michael next time there's an Avalonia meet. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 10:44:59 -0000 From: "Richard Swift" Subject: Re: [AVALON] BF at the Lottery I just found out about this myself - am I pleased that I left the video running on BBC1 last night before I went out - look forward to seeing this. I thought of you instantly Martin when I heard that Sting got to start the Thunderball but Bryan did the main draw - thought you'd derive some satisfaction from this. Wonder whether this is designed to promote the album or a re-release of the single - Jim Lawn did mention a little while ago that there was some chance the single might be re-released. Bryan's leap backward could have qualified him for a new Olympic event - he was visibly taken aback (as well he might have been) ! Did I hear Bry say there would be more UK gigs after the European leg is finished ? That's the first time I've noticed Colin Good's piano is digital, not acoustic. It had me fooled - anyone know the make/model ? Meanwhile - and apologies if this has been mentioned in the past week or so (missed a few 'posts' due to my PC misbehaving) - but on the track listing I have, it mentions Disc 1, Track 16 as 'Havana Moon' !!! First off, I'm disappointed not to have seen this piece of pop artistry for myself. Second, it's nice to see that the right Geordie's on top again. I spoke to Rhett Davies after the first Newcastle concert and the dates were being finalised - the aim was to get to those parts of the country they couldn't get to on the first leg. It seems likely the show will continue to develop with some ATGB material making way for additional songs from the back catalogue - so well worth another jaunt aroung the country.
