I just saw a movie this past Sunday on one of our movie channels called Still Crazy (starring Stephen Rea of The Crying Game). It's a comedy about a 70's British rock band trying to make a comeback in the 90's. It goes through their experiences on the road and the mentality/personalities of the band trying to regroup after so long and trying to deal with why they disbanded in the first place. The first thing that came to my mind when I watched this movie was "would this be a similar experience for Roxy if they reformed?" All I can say is hopefully it would end as well for Roxy as it did for the band in the movie!!! It's an excellent movie and worth a watch!! Tracy was saying that she's getting to like LST. I have to admit I've liked it since it appeared on Net Aid. I can't understand this stuff about him not singing well. He never has sung brilliantly (listen to Live Aid no wonder he went home early) and his recent performances have been exceptional by his standards. Jools Holland stuff was a bit thin in parts but I though Greenwich was great. Also really nice to see him looking so happy at the end with Dave Stewart - he doesn't often seem to smile like that! It's difficult for him live because he's an artist not really a Mariah Carey "I've got an accurate voice even though it's excruciating" type. But the emotion and self belief is back. And that is The Main Thing. Would Phil be his guitarist full time sort of thing? RFH was 10/10 but a Manzanera would have made it 11. Some UK list members are going to Paris on 10/02/00 tickets permitting - anyone else inetersted in a trip on Eurostar? Oh and Kicki, the link to your page seems to be wrong. Whilst like everyone else on this list I'd dearly love to hear some of the stuff that's 'in the can', I'm content to wait for its official release. It will probably all come out in time - whether we're all still around to hear it is another thing! It seems to me that the only way this kind of material can make it onto the streets is if a) it's a copy given by Bryan or someone associated with him (or his record company) to another party in trust and that trust is broken or b) it's stolen. If anyone knows of a third way material which - for whatever reason - Bryan deems is not ready for release can make it into the open then I'm happy to be enlightened but for now I'm happy to wait. I think this is a completely different position to bootlegs - technically they're illegal but at least they're material that's out in the public domain - performances Bryan or any live act have delivered in public as opposed to brand new recordings licensed for release. In any event it seems there's enough evidence the whole thing's a rip off anyway. Having avoided a lengthy screed I reckon there's some change left from my tuppence. For people this side of the Ocean who hasn't had the opportunity to get to Europe. I have relatives in Germany , Austria & Poland. You can get in a car & about 3 hrs. later you'll be in another country. The rail system is another good mode of travel. I guess my last visit over was in 93. Anyway What I'm trying to say is It takes us here. ..If Bryan, doesn't arrive in said city we're near It would then be an expensive plane fare ( which isn't cheap) Unless you're lucky like me & have a relative with the Airline who can get you passes.........Outcome........We.re so spread out we don't get the chance to see Ferry as much when he's this way. .... But we do get a mass of Concerts in at least my fair city all the time . ......This may be a little long but those who may not have the privilige to journey to Europe .will at least have an idea . Here you get in car & you travel for 24 hrs. & still be in the same State. There you can be in another country in just a very short time.. Just a little traveling tidbit folks........M.K. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 20:57:04 -0500 (EST) From: Colleen Matan Subject: Re: [AVALON] Traveling Concert Go'ees On Mon, 10 Jan 2000, Mary Korfanty wrote: [...] > Just a little traveling tidbit folks........M.K.
