I never bought his stuff, but he had one song about 5 years ago, "I'm a Liar!" which was one of the funniest and most powerful tracks you want to hear. He sang about something that many guys live when it comes to trying to get a woman, I'm laughing about it as I write! The concert was pretty spectacular I must say - good lights and Cliff doing all sorts of aerial acrobatics (honest!) but it couldn't come close to the music and sheer cool we all enjoyed a little earlier in December. And God help us he sang THAT song twice! Call me an old fool if you want but I think 2000 will be a year for Ferry fans to enjoy. There is just so much in the pipeline that it seems the man can't fail to produce something of interest, if only the much mooted boxed set. It also seems highly likely there'll be some additional UK dates in the Spring as also happened during the last two UK tours so we haven't seen the last of him in the flesh so to speak. Keep the faith!! Well, given Mr. Ferry's low profile here in the US, I can't help but feel--since we're wishing--that it'd be nice for him to get wider exposure than public broadcasting. (and there is--or there used to be [I haven't seen any shows from this season yet]--an interview component to Sessions) Colleen - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jan 2000 20:27:02 -0500 (EST) From: Colleen Matan Subject: Re: [AVALON] Henry Rollins -- Yeah? I've never had any trouble finding,Our Main Man's music here on our soil. If you want it bad enough you'll find it. I seem to have several Videos, even the early Total Recall. I may indeed have every C.D. he ever made. Where I am the arts are covered widely. & many concerts. We just have to read, & research. One thing for sure, Bryan always sales out a show when he does come this way. I know he'll be this way after the new material is finished. I was thinking of albums; I'm open to either but I gather from past discussions that there are certain things that we mustn't acknowledge the existence of on this list. That's an odd situation, given that the mood of the Avalon album was so heavily influenced by the artists' use... oh, I'm getting nervous already. I was after some squeaky-clean Rollins album recommendations, that's all. (yep, I was last-minute Christmas shopping). But I couldn't help notice how drab the cover art looks on this CD (the colour scheme), I wonder if that has anything to do with the slower sales. The other CD's around it were more eye-catching. Compare it to say, the lovely Nonesuch covers like the Reuben Gonzales (which Santa gave me for Christmas) _before_ you flame me please. - -Noam Richard Swift wrote: > Regretably the album has now exited the top 75, unfortunate given the > improvement in sales indicated by the rallying chart position in the last > two or three weeks. I have my own theory as to why their are more norte-americanos on the Avalon list than Brits. We stateside, where always more starved for information and the latest vis a vis all things RM/BF/ENO etc. Thus a newish service, like the list, also fits in with the higher concentration of PC/Internet linked computers per household in the USA. Also ISP's/Phone line time, is far cheaper in the USA. e Eman=Eric Lindsey - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V4 #440 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
