Mamouna, perhaps not surprisingly given it's the most recent album, isn't particularly startling but some of the others are tremendous. Country Life sounds great especially "The Thrill Of It All" - there's a whole range of instruments on there that were't distinguishable before. But the first Roxy album has, I feel, benefitted the most. The whole album sounds richer and far less tinny / less echo (I'm steeped in musical terms like these). The Remaster has really rekindled my interest in this album. Anyone disagree that the first album is greatly improved by Bob Ludwig's knob twiddling? My copies of the first 5 LPs are all vinyl. This remastering works really well on this one. Mr. Ludwig has spent time getting it right and you can hear the difference. Working out how much to clean up that sound must have been a tough call - the earlier CD was slightly dodgy and thin-sounding, more so than the LP. Hearing the CD's detail didn't really help when it was the sound was that mushy. After Bob's reworking (which sounds almost like a remix in the original sense of the word) what you hear is a little fuller even than the vinyl - more of the subtle madness. I really like it - vinyl purists may not, even if the new sound is closer to what Sinfield and his glamsters heard in the studio while recording it. I stuck to vinyl right up to and including until Taxi but it seemed by then to have become the second rate medium - even its artwork wasn't as good as the CD's.
