HE IS NAMED IN THE OOP UK BF/RM BOOK as they're photographer. Last time I saw him in N.Y. '90 he WAS ON THE STREETS. A BUM & DEADLY DISEASED. Sad. Wow, this is an active list!! I'm glad I ran into it on the web. Anyway, I'm new to the Avalon list. My name is Lisa, I'm 28 and live in Colorado. I've been a fan of Bryan Ferry ever since I heard Sensation on a British music radio program back in 1985. I didn't start collecting Roxy Music albums until the early 90's after I ran into the Total Recall video for $3 at a music store, watched it and became really interested in the band and their music. I saw Bryan Ferry on tour Nov. 13th in Boulder. It was an elegant concert. I felt like I was at a Berlin cabaret in the 1930's and Bryan was utterly fantastic. I met him after the show and he was even more handsome up close than he is on screen or the stage. So, that great concert started me off on another Roxy revival as I try to catch up on BF's 90's albums. My favorite Roxy Music albums are Flesh+Blood and For Your Pleasure. My favorite Bryan Ferry albums are Boys and Girls and Bete Noire (although Mamouna is working its way up on my list, I've only listened to it a few times since I bought it a few weeks ago). My favorite Eno albums are Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain. Other bands I like are Bowie, Stones, T.Rex, NY Dolls, Duran Duran, Iggy Pop, Japan, Gary Numan, Hanoi Rocks, ABC, Madonna, Led Zep, The Doors, Adam Ant and Blondie, anything glam and New Romantic. I'm really interested in getting a hold of more Roxy/Bryan video - like Bryan's tv appearances, Roxy on tv, etc. So, please email me if you'd be interested in trading!! I have some Roxy/Bryan things to trade (including Bryan's appearance on Craig Kilborn last night) but not very much. I do though have TONS and TONS and TONS of video on the other bands I list above (and more including Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Damned, Sisters of Mercy) so if you're interested in trading for any of those please email me. I'd love to trade!!!!!!!! Actually it kind of suprises me that the poll from last winter puts Siren so high on the list of people's favorites. Critics' reviews of Siren from what I've read (but who really listens to "critics" anyway) tend to put that down as one of the weakest Roxy albums. But, probably many people discovered Roxy through Love is the Drug and Siren was the first album they heard. Just a guess on my part....Also, I really like both Manifesto and Flesh+Blood -- maybe because the sound of both those albums is somewhat similar to early Duran Duran, which is the music I first fell in love with. Anyway, my best to worst Roxy list.... For Your Pleasure Roxy Music Flesh+Blood Manifesto Country Life (haven't listened to this one as much as F+B or Manifesto) Stranded (like Country Life, I need to listen to it more to appreciate it) Siren (favorite track, Both Ends Burning) Avalon ( I know that many people LOVE this album but it's not my least fave) Lisa - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Nov 1999 00:12:08 -0800 (PST) From: Pim Rebholz Subject: Re: [AVALON] Psalm I think people focus too much on the religious part of the song and not enough on the atmosphere.
