A few years ago I remember seeing a Japanese import of one of the singles from Taxi (I'm 90% sure it was Taxi anyway), it was rather expensive and being a poor student at the time I decided against it. Here's my luck: www.artist-shop.com had all ten Roxy remasters, and I pre-ordered all ten. They also had the first five Ferry remasters, and will be stocking the last four when they come out. I pre-ordered the last four from them, but the first five are out of stock, and while Gary, who runs the shop, can get them, I'm not 100% sure it'll be in the cardboard sleeve, which is what I want. www.ab-cd.com has all five of the first Ferry remasters in stock. I ordered ATAP from them. www.cdnow.com is sending me TFT, TBSB, and IYM. www.101cd.com had a few of the album-sleeve ones in stock, and that's where I'm getting LST from. - --Don - -- Don Becker don@adelphi.edu http://becker.adelphi.edu Unix System Administrator, Adelphi University http://www.adelphi.edu - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Nov 1999 13:54:33 EST From: ASchulberg@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] REMASTERS - absound Thanks for the info, Don. I was just wondering if anyone has them at the > absurdly low price as absound, like, $7.50 apiece? Not that low... Actually, of the four shops, the only price that stands out is Artist Shop, who are the most expensive at $20 apiece. The others all float around the $17 mark. Of course, brand loyalty is as big a deciding factor for me as price, which is why I ordered my BF and RM remasters from Artist Shop, seing as I've ordered from them before and never had a problem (apart from when I tried cancelling an order that had already shipped, but that's hardly their fault, now is it?) As an aside for MP3 afficionados, I find that the ten Roxy remasters and the non-album tracks from the TTOIA box fit nicely on a single CD-ROM when encoded at 160k/sec, and I would assume that the Bryan Ferry remasters and whatever non-album tracks I have on The Greatest, The Ultimate Collection, and the GOMBF single will also fit on a single CD-ROM. As the Church Lady would say, "how conveeeeeeeeeeeeeeenient..." :) - --Don - -- Don Becker don@adelphi.edu http://becker.adelphi.edu Unix System Administrator, Adelphi University http://www.adelphi.edu - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Nov 1999 14:35:51 -0500 From: "Amy Bettisworth" Subject: Re: [AVALON] absound Yes, believe it or not, they will deliver. Hello I hope all is well when this reaches you. Being a Bryan Ferry / Roxy Music fan I wanted to make sure you knew about the latest Ferry news. As you all know, there is a new Bryan Ferry CD out: "As Time Goes By" on Virgin and it’s getting great reviews. Bryan Ferry is on Tour to support this new CD. The opening night show is tonight, Nov. 3rd, 1999, in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club. I heard that Bryan is touring with his largest band ever, a full 13 piece mini orchestra. It is going to be a great show. I alos hear he is going to be doing songs from the new CD as well as Roxy Music tunes and his own past solo material. With this set up, you know it is going to sound fantastic! I have included the rest of the tour dates below. Great news Part 2: I also found out about a current, and very little known, promotion that is giving away free tour tickets for each stop on the tour. Follow this link and enter !!!!! http://www1.bryanferrydirect.com/bryanferry/main.asp I personally will be at the NYC show this Friday night in the first few rows. I can’t wait!!! Enjoy & Good Luck!! Arnie, I got the versions that reflect the original packaging (cardboard sleeves etc.). My only disappointment is the fact the the type on my copy of Avalon is completely blurred and illegible. By the way, I ordered Siren, Viva, and Avalon. Perhaps smaller orders get processed more quickly?
