Correct me if I`m wrong, but I seem to sense a lot of "If Bryan did it, it MUST be great!" around here. Who can be totally honest or objective about his work with this attitude? It simply does nothing more than bore me and no amount of flowery descriptions can polish a turd. But I`m glad Ferry has this opportunity to do something he really wanted to do and I do hope it does well. I hope it goes triple platinum and is used in automobile and fast food commercials and just floods the airwaves making him tons of money. Then perhaps he`ll get it out of his system once and for all and get on with something more original and inspiring. I know you have lots to add to this list and welcome your knowledge and stories. Can anyone interpret the poem on "I'm In The Mood For Love"? Wow, what a brouhaha around here since the new release. It is interesting to see the different personalities come to different conclusions about a singular thing. If I may offer my own opinion, I shall do it as objectively as possible as not to upset anyone because drawing fire is easier to catch around here than colds. I found ATGB a piece of art. I don't claim to be as knowledgeable as others on the list but I do know what I like and I think that Ferry's voice sounds very crisp and the arrangements range from hauntingly beautiful to campy boxcar Willie. I like that variety and it suits my taste. I had my doubts when I first heard about the concept but upon hearing the album, those doubts were replaced with satisfaction. I will gladly accept the theory voiced by someone else on the list that Ferry did this because he wanted to......that this was his project from the start. Ferry gives flavor to the music and the era. Can you not picture yourself in a ballroom gliding across the floor on the arms of a dangerous stranger who has not spoken his name with words but with his dance? Okay, so maybe that is my vision alone........hahaha. Colleen, Gene, and others who the cd does not agree with, I truly respect your opinions and hope it does not dampen nor lessen your opinion of Ferry as an artist. I conclude my thoughts on the cd, will be at the 930 club in DC on the 2nd and hope everyone has a wonderful experience at least once this week. sharon - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V4 #321 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
