As it is I'm in Boston and I'm going alone myself, which is fine with me. Like you, I do not know anyone in this town who likes Ferry/Roxy. Maybe everyone else at the concert will have come alone. Or maybe they will all be lovers necking around me. In that case I'll have a better concert experience because when people are necking they are quiet and their heads are slightly lowered. > concerts over the years (60's and beyond) and have gone alone and it > does not faze me one iota. Yes, I stick out ( for a lot or reasons), Wow! Who did you see in the 60's? Dylan? Janis Joplin? If you say the Velvet Underground, I am going to worship you. I just bought the "Fully Loaded" 2-disc Rhino rerelease today, and so far I like it a lot. The reviews I read of Loaded were never that great, but I think people were comparing it to the banana album or White Light/White Heat. If you take it for what it is, a mellow 60's album, it's pretty cool. Sorry about the Velvet Underground tangent. I'll never do it again. Well, to all those about to go alone to see Ferry, (and especially to you Jas), I salute you! Then you have version two of the three MANIFESTOs. Do we have a list FAQ? If so, this oughta be on it if it isn't already! 1) original release, with original guitar-based versions of "Dance Away" and "Angel Eyes" 2) second release, with single remix of "Dance Away" substituted 3) third release, with single remixes of both "Dance Away" and "Angel Eyes" v. 3 was the final '79 version, and has been used as the "master" for every pressing since, including the CD releases up to now. The '94 box set, THE THRILL OF IT ALL, had the original album mixes on CD for the first time. I just got my second batch of Roxy reissued CDs in the mail today (thanx, Key Mail Order and whoever on the list pointed me their way!), and haven't yet played MANIFESTO to check which ones they went with for the latest round! later, Miles ====================================================== Miles Goosens UNlimited edition R. If so, you're missing out on the orig. version - which appeared on the first Vinyl pressings of the Album (and the Pic Disc too). As far as I know - the orig. of 'Dance' has never appeared on CD - just the 7" version - although there is a different extended mix on the 'Thrill' box Set (extended to 6min 29). Easy way to tell - the most commonly used 'Dance' is the 7" version - which comes in about 3 min 48. The orig is about 4min 12, and a lot 'weaker'. Let me know if you're missing that one - as in one of my two jobs (!) I run my own record shop - and we do a lot of s/hand Vinyl - so I could always look out a copy for you if one comes in. Just saw Bry on the 'Later' Show on BBC2 - very smooth - doing 'As Time Goes By' and 'Falling In Love Again'. Great string section with him too - perhaps same personnel for upcoming tour ? They were excellent. Thanks again to Chan for the MP3 stuff - after several listens my current fave has to be 'I'm In The Mood For Love' (at the moment !) As some of you know, I do my own European Radio show every Wed night on Satellite - and I did an 'exclusive' on ATGB last Wed - pleased to say I got a good reaction from listeners - who are more used to Rock/Pop Album Trax. (I played 'Otis' and 'Mood'). Hoping of course this bodes well for the general listening public at large, as we need a better reaction from the music listening public this time, don't we ? Time will tell of course. Waiting impatiently for UK tickets to go on sale..... I have patiently been waiting and reading all messages on this board for at least the last three years. I haven't paricipated much but I have read most of the message and have thouroughly enjoyed the bantering back and forth with some of you regulars. I too have very few friends who are die hard BF fans. Anyways, I was ready and primed to get tickets for the Detroit concert. Unfortunately, due to school conflict, my wife is unable to go with although she really wanted to. Undaunted, I was fortunate to be first (and only) person in line at my local Ticket master. To make a long story short, I have front row seats for the Detroit concert and am going with my friend and his wife. Too bad for my wife or any who may think that BF is not worth seeing. Their tragic loss. I am looking forward to enjoying another magical, mystical concert with the Maestro. Hank S. I doubt this is the case. Without researching the matter in depth it seems to me that Bowie's new material (and compilations) have feared little better (and possibly worse) than Ferry's. When was the last time he had a big hit single or a massive selling album - answer (I think) - years ago. His record sales have declined in much the same as Ferry's but I would suggest there's a difference - Bowie's sales have declined in direct proportion to the quality of his output whilst Ferry has maintained a consistency in his material. I like all of the tracks you've posted and, together with what I've heard from other sources, this bodes extremely well for the album as a whole. Bryan's probably right in saying that most of these songs are overly sentimental but equally right in saying that there's a place for them today. As someone aged 39 with parents of 79 and 76 I too have been brought up not necessarily on a diet of these songs but with a fairly robust knowledge of them. They are truly great songs (how many artists 60 years hence will be recording songs of the 1990s I wonder?) and I eagerly look forward to hearing what Bryan can bring to them. Offer still stands for Rod of course - if he still wants to find a 'Vinyl' copy with the orig. 'Dance'. Sad state of affairs that Roxy/Bry Vinyls are plentiful in the 2nd hand Vinyl world - (particularly 80s bits) still, gives others a chance to fill in the gaps if anything missing.
