Hmmm. So, the debate has started, it seems. I do agree with a couple of the recent comments - and i think 'Stick' was a dreadful choice of song as it was mainly Orchestral backing - doesn't work, obviously. And Yes, the voice was quite weak - not to mention very, very out of tune at times. 'Jealous Guy' I liked a lot more. In the end - he looked great, but sounded bad. Having said that - I noticed a lot of these Artists at Geneva clearly HAD to work with the Orchestra & Musicians there - which would not have helped. A good 'Roxy-ite' friend of mine summed it up rather when he rang me tonight - and said he'd seen Bowie at the London Net-aid gig, and added "Why wasn't Bry as cool as that" ? Interesting point, as it does pain me to admit that Bry seemed a bit under-par. Still, it's been that way before, and he came back with a storming tour in late 94'. Besides, I've followed Bry/Roxy since early 73' so I have faith ! (or blatant biase, depending on your point of view). Looking forward to the Tour of course, though not so much the album - it's his own material I really want to hear - as I do fear a bit as his 'crooner' stance is getting too much publicity - he really is so much better than that, and his own material is strong enough. A few people are starting to mention Bry in the same breath as 'Harry Connick Jnr' and - nothing against Harry personally - but the thought does make me cringe a bit. Got the final releases of the Roxy Remasters today - why on earth have they mucked about with Manifesto ? - leaving in the orig. mix of Angel Eyes - but substituting the orig. Dance Away with the remixed 7" version ? Not good. They should have stayed 'true' to the orig. album - as the 7" version of 'Dance' is on virtually every Compilation anyway... There's a few 'blips' here and there - I think the orig. masters were disintegrating - and they had to be remastered now or never. 'Viva' sounds much, much better. Great, in fact. My one fervent hope is that 'Sentimental Fool' somehow makes its way onto the 'live' playlist - unlikely I know - but it is my fave RM track, and haven't seen that done 'live' since the Siren tour. Last points - anyone out there got a couple of things I'm missing re Video stuff ? Could do 'swaps' or something - but i'm willing to buy - i'm still missing Brys TOTP appearance of 'Spell' - would love a copy of that. Also need the Video of 'More Than This' single... Finally - any news on the 'CD Tree' stuff ? Reecey... Personally I thought this was a good performance. I like Bryan's voice in all its' guises, including the delicate, bittersweet variety which has characterised recent output and will undoubtedly feature throughout the new album. However I also like to hear some of his more forthright singing - voice very much to the fore. I'd like to see at least one more album produced in this fashion because it seems to me this is what the public like - some of Bryan's most successful singles have featured this king of singing and, maybe it's just coincidence but his record sales have declined since the voice began to take second place to the music. A confident and good performance I thought (but then I'm used to being in a minority!) I also picked up Row H tickets online at 9AM sharp Saturday for Seattle (William, I'm in seats 7&8, are you nearby? Thanks so much for the sale time heads-up, or I would be back in row Z by now.) Alison - you said you worked at the Paramount - couldn't they help? (still, row K has got to be just fine in there) Anyone else for Seattle? I could have sworn that one of the tracks I was able to make out on that CD you sent was In Every Dream Home.... Is this correct? Have you got a track list for Wolverhampton? (none were supplied with the CD I received). I have a feeling some material was left off of my CD copy.
