I just rang the London RFH box office and they still don't have Ferry listed
for this date, the 14th - they suggested I should try again in a couple of
weeks.  I just know I am going to be busy when the tickets finally do go on
sale and will end up in some shitty seats up at the back in a corner
somewhere with another bloody 'whooper' sitting in front of me spoiling my
enjoyment (and bootleg?) of the concert........doh!

I called the Royal Festival Hall this morning and although the 14 December
was free they could not confirm that Bry was due to appear that night. I
asked what she would do in my position and she replied that there is no
alternative to keeping on ringing. I'll try and call each morning and
immediately alert the list is tickets are on sale.

If anyone out there is also considering this venue (Andy ? Bahi ? Robert ?)
then let me know and I could block book . Unless any bright spark has got a
more direct route .....

Darn right Martino! My wife and I are actually going to fly to the most
horrid city in America to see the man in this new form. I have sworn that I
would never enter Las Vegas again under my own power but such is the power
of Ferry! Due to various personal logistics and the undeniable fact of cheap
flights to Vegas it looks like we'll be flying into Vegas on Friday
afternoon, catching the show and taking a red-eye back to Orlando. What I
wouldn't give to see him at the wonderful Massey Hall, but it's just no tin
the cards for us.

Ok, here I am having found you guys yesterday as I was searching the Web
about Bryan.

Nice to see you all! I've been a Roxy/Bryan fan since... g-d knows when.
The mid 80s? I had a tape that I recorded from someone at college- Boys
and Girls on one side and Avalon on the other and I wore that tape out.
Now the cds come with me everywhere! And I have all of them.

There should be no contemplation, I know, but I am contemplating seeing
him for the third time when he comes to DC Nov 2. Will it just be 1930s
oldies or all of his stuff? $40 is an interesting price tag on these
tickets, but, I know, Bryan is priceless. There could be a total of 8 of
us that I would buy tickets for (nice to see the Bryan fans all come out
when he comes to town).

Are there other DC fans out there who want to give me a swift kick to
get to the 9:30 Club tomorrow and get these tickets?

I don't know of any other DC fans (unless they are still lurking), but
welcome to the list from me.  And even with the $40 price tag and the
privilege of standing all night listening to a set list of what will most
likely be nearly all songs from the 1930 (hey, at least the new 9:30 Club
is cleaner than the old one and there are no poles to block your view), I
think it should be worth it.  Just for the curiosity factor of hearing
what he sounds like fronting an orchestra. 

And, naturally, seeing what The New Haircut looks like in person.  So go
get those tickets!

Okay, apologies for the previous message, I am an idiot (one more click and 
I would have seen they weren't actually on sale yet).

In the poor excuses for not thinking straight (but still tangentially 
on-topic) department:  My place has been broken into TWICE (so far) this 
month.  The second time resulted in the disappearance of all CDs by artists 
G-Z *except* for Roxy Music.  I'm not sure whether to applaud their good 
taste for taking the entire Manzanera collection, yet thank them for 
leaving both Ferry and RM intact, or just boggle at their appalling and 
clearly intentional slight.

Whichever, needless to say, I remain a bit out of sorts.  What a week.

I telephoned the Liverpool Royal Court today, allegedly the venue for UK
concert No.1 on 10 dec. They were "unable to confirm" taht Ferry is there
on 10th, "could not say" when confirmation would occur, and "had no idea"
when tickets would go on sale if he did play there on the 10th....make of
that what you will.

I have been changing ISPs and had a few problems getting my e-mail up and
running - it's good to be back in business.

The November issue of "Uncut" has an excellent 4 page article on Bryan which
includes a new B&W photograph (full page).  The article is a good read and
refers to the upcoming tour (no dates) and a possible TV special.  Also that
a new version of "Mother of Pearl" has been recorded with Maceo Parker and
Ronnie Spector for inclusion on an upcoming film soundtrack.  Elsewhere the
album receives an enthusiastic review - 4 star rating (= Excellent, maximum
rating 5*).

On the subject of tickets I too have been in touch with the Liverpool Royal
Court (how nice it will be to see so many UK list members visiting my neck
of the woods to see Bryan kick off the tour!) and the Manchester Apollo.
The answers are pretty much the same as reported earlier - "can't confirm"
or "nothing in the diary for that date" and I too will keep trying.

The three 'NetAid' concerts are being featured on BBC TV and Radio this
weekend.  I suppose the London gig will get more coverage than others but
the Geneva concert will feature and Bryan's presence is referred to in
"Radio Times" so expect to see him performing live on Sunday night
(11.10p.m. BBC1) (Radio coverage on Radio 1 from 6.00p.m. to 10.30 p.m.).

Nice extract from the "Uncut" article -

So modest is Ferry that he says things like "The Bride Stripped Bare, which
was a solo album I made" and "For Your Pleasure which was the second Roxy
Music album".  Come on , I think, do I look 16?  All I ever asked of reality
was that it would, in some fleeting moments, resemble the world within a
Roxy album, so this experience is like meeting God and hearing him say stuff
like "And then there was this thing called light, which I invented".

I think the next issue of "Q" will hit the shops in the last days of
October - i.e. within a few days of the album's release.  I'm sure it will
be reviewed.

Incidentally this week's "Music Week" says that the album will be
extensively advertised on TV and radio from release upto Christmas.
Hopefully this and a few high profile TV appearances (National Lottery /
Later / NetAid / New Year's Eve gig etc.) will secure some healthy sales.

box office of each venue. However, if and when the BF UK tour does
materialise, I'll be buying tickets for up to four concerts and may does so
"centrally" from somewhere like "Ticketmaster" if that is possible.

Sorry Dawne, no wonder you've been so quite.
Yes, baby-sitting your own children is a lot to ask.
I myself have made the Ultimate Sacrifice, I'm staying
home with the kids, so their Mom can go see Bryan
in Boston. She's even a bigger fan than I, and if not for
her, I wouldn't have all his/Roxy's music so I thought it
the right thing to do.

If you guys meet in Boston, let me know, I'm sure
she would love to chat. She's really quite charming,
some people just weren't meant to live together.

I'd say without a doubt go to the venue. Nothing
worse than busy signals. What if Back Street Boys go
on sale that day? You have to compete w/ that.
Janice got to Berklee 1/2 hour before
they went on sale and got 3rd row center. In 1994
mamouna tour. I went to the Orpheum box office 3 hours before
and got front row! That will never happen over the phone.

Yes Heather, it is small, seats only 1200. I've been there several times
I saw Micheal Brecker and Mike Stern from the balcony and it  was great.
I also saw George Benson, I was in the 2nd to last row on the floor
and could see and hear fine. Great acoustics, very clean. Perfect venue
for this type of music.

Just discovered this 'list' so Hi all. Can't wait for Tour - plenty of
uncertainty re Venues etc - am hoping to go to at least 4 in the UK (I'm in

anyone ?  Saw Roxy first time in 73', have been to Roxy/Bry gigs a total of
85 now - yeah i'm that sad that i've counted them ! Must get to 100 ! Thanx
much to person who put MP3 of new Single on Net - but how come some of you
have got a recording of the Album already ? Details please - I need to hear
it pronto - particularly 'Miss Otis Regrets'.  I do a few of my own Radio
Shows on European Satellite every Wed night - would like to play forthcoming
tracks on Shows of course ... Would love to join some of you for USA gigs -
need to win the Lottery first before I can do that - but i'm trying !

This was recorded during the "Horoscope" sessions (1991ish) and was intended 
for the Michael Douglas film Basict Instinct. The record company wanted it to 
be released as a single to promote both the soundtrack and Horoscope, but as 
Horoscope wasn't ready they decided it was an ' all or nothing ' situation 
and didn't use it.

My thanks go to Eric Simpson, Brian Folks, David Southern and Ken Wade for
their patience and help in making copies.
I`d also like to thank TriTri for the Air Studios material which offers a
look at the band during the recording of the Stranded album. I cleaned it up
and added it to the '75 Boston show. Also, thanks to everyone involved in
putting together and getting the RFH CD state side.
There are some great performances on these disc and I hope everyone finds
something that stands out to them as Roxy at their best on their natural
turf...the stage.

Sorry about the delay on getting this rolling. At times it seemed this tree
was dead in the water. Getting enough people together to make copies was a
little harder this time around, then came the 100+ request of which only 38
were actual list members. (That`s right, I check these things.<G>) Where
these others came from, I don`t know, but CD Tree material are offered to
list members only, not the entire internet. Anyone not listed as a
subscribed list member when the call goes out will either have to wait until
the next tree or set up a private trade/whatever with someone getting a
copies.

Everyone involved in making copies has on average 40 CDs to make...and
that`s a lot.
As the amount of material grows, future trees and what will be offered will
depend on how much help we get making copies. I had to cut the Wolverhampton
show and Compilation disc due to our hands being full.
