There are times when I feel like converting it to all your different formats in its current state and whacking them out to everyone. With just a little more work, however, we can make it into a stylish, albeit still strictly amateur, piece. I'm appealing to a UK Avalonion who has the equiptment and the inclination - you know who you are - - to lend a hand but he is very busy. Thus I rely on my unreliable pal at London Weekend TV, and he's away this week. It will happen, soon. And US Avalonions will get it as soon as it's done. Just stop running across the golf course as we're about to putt. Interesting that you guys got to see a clip of SNL performance, of which both numbers appear on Avalonia. The high definition of the copy that I transposed to the DVCAm only adds to the expressionist canvas, black, black suit, blue-black hair, Johnny Marr's pale Mancunian palour, DeVito's pate ... This will no doubt add to me being dubbed the "Statto of the list", like at the recent RFH gig but anyway here are the questions that I would like to ask Bryan: 30 QUESTIONS FOR BRYAN FERRY 1) What was your reason for appearing in the French soap "Petit Dejener Compris" in 1979? 2)Do you regret not recording "Don't You Forget About Me", which became a smash hit for Simple Minds? 3) You have been spotted in Nick Caves company a lot recently. Do you admire his music? 4)Do you see any bands aroud today that remind you of the early R.M.? 5)How much does the recent lack of commercial success bother you? 6)What's the biggest mistake you ever made as a musician? 7)Do you think you'd be able to write Virginia Plain today assuming you hadn't in 1972? 8)A number of people have covered your songs. Which is your favourite cover and which is the most slanderous? 9)You appeared at Harry Smith's tribute concert. Is he an inspiration to you? 10)Are you in contact with Paul Thompson? 11)You have a lot of old fashioned tastes. Do you feel you've fallen behind the times? 12)Without copping out, who was the best bass player ever to appear on a Roxy Music record? 13)The original version of "The Numberer" contained lyrics. What were they? 14)Where was the last ever Roxy concert held? 15)Why did you release the Dumbbells Christmas hit? 16)You made an updated version of Mother of Pearl during the Horoscope sessions. How was it performed, did Eno work on it and will it ever see the light of day? 17)You have a lot of unreleased material in the cupboard. Is it not good enough to release? 18)The accoustic version of "The Only Face" sounds very fresh. Would you ever consider releasing an album of originals in this format? 19)You have some fantastic instrumental pieces on albums and flip sides. Would you ever consider making an instrumental album? 20)You said in 1993 that your voice only had about a 10 year life span left. Do you still believe that you have just over 3 years left in the business? 21)Is the 10 second blank space near the end of In Every Dream Home A Heartache just being different for the sake of being different? 22)Why were none of the Roxy members available to be interviewed for Paul Stumps new Roxy bio? 23)Your career has tread a very similar path to David Bowie. Some people disregard early Roxy as a crowd of Bowie clones. This is obviously untrue but do you think that Bowie has ever copied you in any way? 24)Do you take yourself too seriously? 25)Who is the most expensive session player you have ever hired? 26)Did you have a fall out last year with Virgin? 27)You persuaded your publicist Simon Puxley to write "The Bryan Ferry Story" in 1976 under the name Rex Balfour. Did he have any hang ups about doing this? 28)What's the strangest encounter you've ever had with a fan? 29) You worked with Robert Fripp one time (on Nocturne). How did that work out? 30)Did you really do "IT" with a horse? In retrospect that last question was just a little too personal. Anyway unless any whizz kid Avalonians can solve these mysteries then pass them over to the floppyless haired genius. Amongst them were considerable length interviews and updated photos off Kari Ann and Amanda who still looked great and Constansa and Evelyn who had both sagged quite considerably to the horror of this particular reader. Amanda mentioned that the transexual thing was a bit of propoganda invented by Bryan to sell more records. Also, I was reading one of my aunts magazines recently (as all men do)and came across an article with some model or whoever that was trying to recreate the vamp like qualities of Amanda Lear on the FYP album cover. Two clothes designers were providing the costumes and one of them was Anthony Price who provided the costumes alright but didn't bother turning up, instead giving her directions over the phone on how to go about looking her best in them. The second clothes designer (can't remember his name) mentioned that Anthony was one of the very best clothes designers in the world in his opinion. The article featured photos of the covers of the first two Roxy albums although the model could not match Lear in any way...you could say she just didn't have the balls. Has anyone bought it and have any comments regarding the new track and >artwork? Hi; It's called "More Than This" and it currently has a street date of Oct. 5, 2 weeks before the new album. I believe there's a UK best of collection w/the same name. The artwork for this one uses the same cover shot of BF on the UK version, but this time standing next to a sillouette of a female form who has a ship on top of her head. No, I'm not making that up. Do a search for Roxy Music, then "More Than This" on the CDNOW website if you want to see it. The track listing is absent, but I suspect it is quite similar to the UK version, with the new track being the primary difference, but I can't say for sure. This is the ultimate scam for bilking the fans, it seems to me. How many will buy this "best of" just for the one new song, only to turn around and buy the new album 2 weeks later, anyway? About three seconds of "The Right Stuff". Man, he looked good. Arnie Ditto! Right after Bryan they showed a few seconds of Keith Richards tearing into It's a Struggle. Goosebumps all over me seeing both of them. All in all not a bad show. It was good to look back at some really funny moments over the last 25 years. Too bad that Bryan did not get enough air time on the SNL look at the musical performances which aired on VHI on Sunday before the big telecast. Did you notice the clip of Simple Minds and how Jim Kerr vocals were lost in the mix! He looked silly especially in those tights. Why they decided not to show Bryan in favor of them is beyond me. I guess I'll have to pull out my beta version of the performance to see it again in full. And speaking of Jeri.. Did you see the clip of her and the "lier" character, Jon Lovitz, in a skit at a bar,and later Mick shows up? She looked very, very fetching. Is it him who wrote those glowing reviews? I dunno. Maybe it's just someone with the same name. I do know that Chas Chandler, the former Animal, died last year. Does anyone know when these reviews were written?
