Ferry was in quiff and make up looking incredibly sweaty and very sexy, but Eno was the real focus of attention. He wasn't leaping about yet, but with the peacock feathers and nail varnish, he looked very flamboyant, mad-professorish, attending to his arcane instruments, the mellotron and the primitive Moog, making these weird sounds that nobody had heard before." Whether they were supporting Bowie I am not sure, but judging by the date I would think so. I have already been in touch with the magnificent Han, our man behind the mixing desk, and things will be under way soon. (Uncle Rhett, eat your heart out) The Hollywood tracks are: I put a spell on you Slave to love Your painted smile Jealous Guy (builds to a great crescendo) Love is the drug (the best version I have ever heard, probably because [flame-proof suit on] Manzanera is not involved. Much as I like his playing on many tracks, he never sounded good on LITD, or trying to reproduce the opening bars of 'Still Falls The Rain' live - bum notes ahoy! The lead break is sensational on this version of LITD and the whole track has a really funky, choppy feel)) Avalon. The general musicianship is superb. There is a proper real-life actual saxophonist ( something sadly lacking in the UK show I saw) This show was from Ferry's second night in LA during 1994, (he says so during the performance) The last two tracks are probably of most interest to Ferry-philes as they are not reproduced in the Wolverhampton show. I have only six tracks from this show, but there may be more out there, as I believe it was broadcast in the US, and there are some obvious edits in the tape at the moment, can anyone help? I suggested that the Danny Baker Show tracks (Mamouna and Jealous Guy) might be used as filler, does anyone have the facility to transfer these from VT to cassette tape, as I don't have the equipment with me at the moment. Finally, does anyone have any other material which might be suitable for this project, tentatively entitled 'An Englishman Abroad' There must be a few on tracks out there from live TV appearances or bootleg tapes. Shaun? He's about 8 years old in the photo? Or did Uncut confuse him with his brother David? Either way, a very odd inclusion. I thought I'd wait and treat myself at Xmas! I have managed to obtain Stranded , Country life and Siren but no luck with Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure. If anyone out there can help I would be eternally grateful. I can possibly offer any of the above 3 as trade (but need to know pretty soon as availability is limited, surprise surprise!!). Straight purchase would be best but I'm flexible. Am I the only one frustrated by this move???
