"I'm In The Mood For Love" and "Sweet And Lovely" are below. Thanks, Han, for sending all the other lyrics. Colleen - ---------- SWEET AND LOVELY Gus Arnheim Sweet and lovely, sweeter than the roses in May. Sweet and lovely, heaven must have sent her my way. Skies above me never were as blue as her eyes; And she loves me, who would want a sweeter surprise? When she nestles in my arms so tenderly, There's a thrill that words cannot express. In my heart a song of love is taunting me, melody haunting me. Sweet and lovely, sweeter than the roses in May, And she loves me, there is nothing more I can say. - --------- I'm In the Mood For Love This version not released as a single Written by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields I'm in the mood for love Simply because you're near me Funny, but when you're near me (I'm in the mood for love) Heaven is in your eyes Bright as the stars we're under Oh, is it any wonder? (I'm in the mood for love) (Why stop to think of whether) (This little dream might fade?) (Let's put our hearts together) Now we are one, I'm not afraid If there's a cloud above If it should rain, we'll let it But, for tonight, forget it (I'm in the mood for love) (Why stop to think of whether) (This little dream might fade?) They are notorious for inflating the value of things to ridiculous levels. I like to check out the Roxy items on e-bay once in awhile and notice the same bootlegs going for $50+ can be had at, say, Saturn Records (www.saturnrecords.com) for $20 7 days a week. Also, there also seems to be some activity on the Manzanera site (www.manzanera.com). There`s an announcement for the release of not only his new album 'Vozero' in September, but the re-release of Diamond Head, Quite Sun`s Mainstream with 40 min. of extra material, and the "complete" 801 Live album at the same time. I had been at the Leicester De Montfort Hall gig with which Roxy opened the British leg of the Manifesto tour a couple of days before the Apollo and had been disappointed that they had not performed Virginia Plain, though this was their encore at the Apollo. I recall that at both gigs they did a superb rendition of Re-Make Re-model and that Mackay's solo on Song for Europe was equally Premier Division. Tracks 7 & 8 are from his own Southern Cross Album. The rest are Moncada songs sung in Spanish (I think). Isuppose Moncada are the Cuban Runrig (which I'm not particularly fond of even though I'm a Scot) It's not the quintessential Manzanera album, but then what is. His albums are so diverse. This one has a very obvious Latin feel. I wouldn't like to give an opinion on this album as it depends on how much you like Latin American music. Manzanera has 2 tracks on this album out of 10, so it's like saying Avalon was an instrumental album. If it's your first Manzanera purchase then go for Guittarissimo or The Manzanera Collection. If you are a completist then buy it. tracks are:- 1 Yo Te Queria 2 Mama Hue 3 Yolanda 4 Caiman No Come Caiman 5 Mi Canto Sube 6 canter El Son De Cuba 7 Southern Cross 8 Astrud 9 Musica 10 Corazon, Corazon Hope this helps Regards John O'Brien - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Aug 1999 16:58:58 -0400 (EDT) From: shinoballo@webtv.net (Jeff Pavlock) Subject: Re: [AVALON] Trade I'd be willing to trade a vinyl copy of "Why Do Ya Think I'm A Funky Chick" a live boot from !975 - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Aug 1999 23:03:13 +0100 From: "David Squires" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Re:On The Road Video On 23 Aug 99, at 21:26, Killip family wrote: > I had been at the Leicester De Montfort Hall gig with which Roxy opened the > British leg of the Manifesto tour a couple of days before the Apollo Me too! Bryan bent down to shake hands with someone in the front row, to the left of the stage as viewed from the audience, and that person (female I recall) slipped the watch off his wrist. He did indeed speak to the boys as you say ( specifically to Phil I think). He then said to the "watch thief" something like "Could I have that back please, its very special..." after a few seconds a different person returned the watch to him whereupon he said "Thank you very much" and resumed the song. Do you also recall these two other incidents from that gig... Phil Manzanera only used his Gibson Firebird (as on the FYP cover) for the opening number (Manifesto) and thereafter played the whole gig with a Les Paul? and....in "Ain't That So" Andy Mackay was using a rattle type shaker to make the clicking noise in the chorus and it broke; after having shaken it two or three times and made no noise a clearly amused Andy threw it backstage with an exaggerated "Oh What the Hell" look on his face!
