More of that weathered, beaten voice we hear on Sonnet and Brilliant Light, singing the strangely familiar lyrics that Han is posting. (Thanks, Han.) This could work - a retro, high tech, totally digital Ferry product to remind us that musically, it hasn't been *that* long a journey this century. Will there be traces of the analogue VCS3 clouds and Yage trances of late or are we talking true trad? I just remembered that Ferry had Scanner spray '90s cellular-speak all over his last album, still unreleased. This one might benefit from some GSM jazz - think of the Haunted House mix of Spell. On the subject of which, does anyone know what film is playing in the background of that track? I'd be interested to know. (Clued-up media people on this list once wrote about The Day the Earth Stood Still, the movie that provides the most prominent snippet of dialogue that you hear in Bryan's Rescue Me. If you haven't seen it, rent it on video - it's very Ferry.) Martin: count me in. Can't stretch to a black DS but could possibly pick up a cheap 2CV, which we could Hammerite and use as the getaway car. Through-roof loading. Roxy Music, For Your Pleasure, Stranded, Country Life, Manifesto, Flesh And Blood Let's Stick Together I could trade you for remastered versions of these if you have them in Ex/Ex condition. I have all the other albums on E'G, but the above ones I never got until the Virgin re-issues around 1987. So a straight swap for the Re Masters. And there is no law that says you have to listen to them if you don't like them. But at least they're available for those of us who do like them. IMHO, one of the great advantages of the CD system. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Aug 1999 23:55:20 -0500 From: jas2347@xsite.net Subject: [AVALON] Know yourself Date: Sat, 21 Aug 1999 08:26:58 -0700 From: bearwithme@earthlink.net Subject: Re: Kink, romance, partnership.....is it all possible? One thing that I would like to add to what you said - which was great to read My comment would be your last line on looking for "Mr. Right" I believe that we all have to BE Mr. Right before we can even begin to look for Mr. Right. Making sure your that your baggage is carry-on, rather than having to check it in. That your self esteem is where it is supposed to be, loving yourself and treating yourself and others with respect, dignity and compassion. What a better way to attract the bees than with a lot of honey. AMEN. This is what I have tried to subcribe to. I still practice it but find in lacking in a lot of the guys that I run into. I've given up on "love" until the next lifetime or the far side of the next millenium-whatever comes first. Recovery from what was supposed to be "love" after the ardor has faded, has been emotionally and physically draining. I just want the sex and the fleeting moments of "passion" if and when they happen. Then I move on. Self-centered? No. Detached-Yes. Just older, wiser, and more comfortable with myself.
