I hope someone taped it and will distribute it to we poor unfortunates who couldn't tune in! But regarding the Roxy reunion ... It makes sense to keep the notion of a reunion in the air even if in reality it isn't going to happen. It stimulates discussion, and it may even help boost sales of the upcoming reissues, by creating a sense that they aren't just a lot of old records, but the precursor of something new. If you have a BBC mike stuck under your nose, you aren't going to say a flat no to anything, you're going to say that anything is a possibility. Add to that that these interviews were quite probably taped some time ago, perhaps when rumours were rife, and when (for all we know) there WAS a chance of a reunion. So I wouldn't myself take the 'possibility' of a reunion too seriously on the evidence of this broadcast alone. but who knows? I'll be honest and say that I'm not one of those on this list thrilled to pieces by the idea of a reunion anyway. I haven't sat down and tried to compare the output to what was contained in the earlier "Bryan Ferry Story" but I am guessing the content was new. Richard, Nearly all of the recordings and interviews were excerpts from the earlier 3 hour BF Story. The new additions were the news of the new BF release in September, yet another teaser about a possible RM reunion in Y2k, and Richard Williams' assertion that of all the artists that changed the course of rock, BF is a member of an extremely exclusive elite of Elvis, James Brown and The Velvet Underground. BTW, I haven't sat down and compared the tapes, but I mus admit it all seemend familiar - but maybe someone else noticed some new bits. Incidentally, Richard Williams' comment was almost certainly made at the time of the original BF Story interview, but excluded for that programme. There was some very insightful stuff from the boys themselves. Ferry was recalling having to collect Paul Thompson from a building site and taking him to the evening gig covered in sweat and cement where he would proceed to 'play like a demon', and of the original Roxy photoshoot in which the very down to earth Thompson was cajoled into a circus strongman outfit 'complete with black eye in some pictures' Ferry was reduced to giggles whilst recalling both stories. Being a trivia obsessive, I was interested to hear the essential news that Yannick Etienne's husband was a one-legged Haitian, or that Manzanera was unhappy with Avalon's vibe at the time of it's release Star of the show for me though was the wonderfully indiscreet Antony Price recalling the Siren photoshoot in Anglesea, Wales and the series of disasters which befell them, and some of the (with hindsight) laughable costumes. The program was introduced by Ultravox main man and Band Aid stalwart Midge Ure who appeared to have been genuinely influenced by and admiring of Roxy. There were some howling omissions however, for example Eddie Jobson wasn't even mentioned! I guess some things had to be compromised to fit the 1 hour timeslot. Does anyone know if this is a recompiled version of the 3 part RM Story broadcast on R1 a few years back? The program was compiled by Pete Frame (of Rock Trees fame) who I think is a pretty cast-iron source and pretty obsessional when it comes to accuracy so I would trust the September release date quoted in the program for new material, but I suspect the Roxy reunion rumours are simply a carrot eternally dangled in front of us to keep interest in BF's output high. Nothing concrete was said only wished for. I taped the program, and have transcribed it onto CD to add to the CD Tree for those who want it. It is 55 minutes long with no adverts and predominantly interview based with the music reduced to 1 minute bursts. Sound Quality is pretty good considering the quality of the FM source, and the Heath Robinson nature of my cassette recorder, and has been cleaned up a bit. I'm just about to move house and job (to Weybridge ironically which got a mention in the recent Lennon thread) so I can't deal with individual requests but if we could set up a distribution network I'll happily send out a few copies to start the ball rolling for our UK and overseas chapters (even our Virginia, inland, tidewater or plain!) I've no wish to profit from these CD's and will provide them on the understanding that others do the same. I hope that Avalonia is a place where we can swap material without commercialism taking over. I have one or two more interviews on CD, if anybody has other interesting tapes I can put onto CD perhaps you could let me know and I'll make them available to all via the group. I also have a 1994 (?) Hollywood gig tape on its way from the US. I'll keep you posted. Finally, could someone let me know where I can lay hands on a copy of the 1993 Wolverhampton gig? I was at the Bournemouth show two nights later and it would fire up some good memories as I managed to get right to the front and saw the great man up close (steady girls!), my girlfriend at that time still swoons at the memory!
