Got it and am playing it right now. Forgot how good it was. BTW, ran "Total Recall" the other night and really enjoyed it. It had been way too long since I last viewed it. Sartorially and stylistically the first Roxy Music album was really "out there". Over the course of the next two albums things quieted down, didn't they? I'm not sure what to expect in these shops as far as variety of the different genre's. >> I was in Paris November 1998. I went to a shop called Monster Melodies 9 Rue Des Dechargeurs 75001 Paris. e-mail: monster@club-internet.fr they had a good stock of Roxy/Ferry rarities (Bootlegs deleted 12" etc) I had a catalouge from them before I went to Paris. It had loads of 7" and other rarities, but I was dissapointed when I visited the shop that they didn't keep all of their stock in that building. If you are interested, it would be a good idea to get a catalouge from them, see what you want, tell them when you will be there and ask them to bring all their Roxy stock to the shop that day for you to choose from. No guts, no edge, totally weak. It`s like they forgot how to have fun on stage and it`s painfully obvious, especially on the later live shows. >> I think a lot of this is due to the fact on how they worked as a writing unit. Pre '79 Bryan, Phil or Andy would have a sketch of a song which they would present to the band in a 'live set up' rehearsal. This would be worked on in a performance sort of way and then taken to the studio to be recorded. It seems that the later material is written in the studio, almost 'written to be recorded' and not necessarrly 'performed.' This is possibly why the earlier material comes off better live as it was written to be performed, though I do believe that Bryan's last 2 tours have been excellent especially the older material. The old songs were new songs to the musicians who were playing them and therefore still had that freshness and added with modern technology, it is easier to get a good quality live sound that maybe some of the earlier live archives suffer from John O'B. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1999 19:28:50 +0100 From: Philip Castledine Subject: [AVALON] Chords to "Avalon" Can anyone tell me where I can get the tab/notation to the Roxy Music song "Avalon"?
