Say Something!! OK, OK, I'll fight my natural shyness and say something! I came to this list very recently, after realizing that Avalon is my all-time favorite CD, the only one I could listen to every day and never grow tired of...and I've been searching everywhere for Boys and Girls, since so many have compared one to the other. I'm hoping that promised box set will be released soon. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the conversations on the list. I also have to speak up in defense of Mamouna; I've been listening to it nearly every day since I got it (a few weeks ago) and I like it more and more. I found this quote in an old "Entertainment Weekly" review of Taxi (available on their web site); it made me laugh out loud: "No one captures the alluring sound of a dissipated bloodsucker crooning romantically to his beloved like Bryan Ferry does." Agree/disagree, anyone? Jim Yes, when Jimi hit the English music scene in 1966, he blew everyone away and they have yet to fully recover. Pete Townsend has gone out of way in every interview where there is a discussion of guitarists to specifically mention Hendrix and that period of time. Eric also has not hidden the fact that Hendrix was a big influence on him even though at the time Eric was considered "god". And what does this thread have to do with Avalon? Well, Robin Trower was a major Hendrix devotee and of course Bryan was smart enough to incorporate Robin in his last releases. He's presently working in a call centre in Belfast as a summer job, and has to go to an internet cafe to catch up with Clapton's testicular problems and Kicki's strange allure. He was all set for Montreux before the pull-out but now has the considerably cheaper option of the Meltdown festival. As it stands he will make that Royal Festival Hall bar at 7.00 pm sharp on July 2nd, along with Bahi, Robert, Andy and myself....Talking of which, surely John O'Brien's making the trip ? And Jason ? Does anyone know the country the CD was manufactured in? Can't seem to find a "Made In ?" designation on it. Any help would be appreciated. My guess is that it's from Germany.
