Hi all, Found this list (finally!) while surfing the net for tablatury of Roxy Music songs (for bass). Needless to say I found nothing, so I've got my first question ready: Who on this list has got tablatury for bass of (the early) Roxy Music or know how I can get hold of this? So, now a little piece of history..... Through a high-school sweetheart I got hold of 'Let's stick together' in 1977, fell in love with the songs, and tried to get more albums, I ended up buying Roxy Music, because I saw quit a few songs there that were on the LSTG. and the singer and drummer were also the same! Big mistake!!!! Since that day Roxy Music is my favorite band, it almost became a religion...... Not that I collected everything about Roxy Music, I only listened to their music, day in, day out....... Must have driven my folks crazy! GH/HH/GS Rick 'Me NoSo' Stil Bryan Ferry (voice/piano) Graham Simpson (bass) Andy Mackay (oboe/saxophone) Eno (synthesizer/tapes) Paul Thompson (drums) Phil Manzanera (guitar) Bryan Ferry (voice/keyboards/harmonica) Paul Thompson (drums) John Wetton (bass) Chris Mercer (saxophone) Mel Collins (saxophone) Martin Drover (trumpet) Eddie Jobson (violin/synthesizer) Morris Pert (percussion) - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 09:39:37 -0400 From: jspellman Subject: Re: [AVALON] The Best Compilation (Your RIGHT AND I'm ALL WRONG!) I think it is the same. It is the High Road video that is different. Although some songs are the same, others are from a different night, maybe the concert before or after. If you listen to Andy's solo on My Only Love on the video, it's just OK and he kind of struggles w/ his ideas. Then listen to his solo on the same tune on the HSB or HighRoad EP, it is one of his finest moments, flawless and masterful. The only regret I had about these remixes, is we didn't have a whole Ambient Album entitled IPASOY, Haunted House 45 min Extended-Mix. So reassuring that after all these years BF had the attitude to extend-mix to the max. Great stuff. And what a contrast to the lowest point in RM/BF's career, which too was an extended mix, namely Dance Away live (which contained a hideous 5 min Andy Newmark drum solo) , Flesh and Blood Tour. I had front row seats for that tour at Wembley for all nights. After night 2 of that Dance Away (I had to check that they really would play it again) I gave away my tickets for the third night - and still don't regret it. You know where I stand. Boys and girls was sweet music to my ears, but Bete Noire was even better. So highly hypnotic and fairly psychedelic in a laid back, sophisticated way...very nice. But then Mamouna, his finest hour, very, very nice. Like Bete Noire x2. I was just cruising in the Lincoln the other day and realised, myself, as I was listening to "Painted smile", this is his finest hour. I just f*****g lose it when I hear that song and Havana Moon is very, very nice also. The rest of you get lives...begin to dig that which IS Bryan Ferry not WAS Talk about being burned in effigy...let me get my flame retardant gear on was that vocal enough? Ciao, Asbestos Neil Neil, Neil, Neil...of course all is forgiven. I was just pulling your leg. I love the diverse opinions on this list.
