As of today wednesday 19th may,10:45 hrs, I called the NSJ Organisation, and they haven't heard or been informed by I.E.Management as yet about any withdrawal of Ferry. The more confusing for those of you outside/overseas who are planning to come and arranging flights. Yes it does, but listen to it and then listen to the same track from the Stockholm '76 bootleg. I timed them some 15 years ago. If I could get my turntable working I'll do it again. I too joined in the interests of learning more about Roxy and Ferry. Although I'm not exactly vocal, there are many on this list that know a great deal and you should find the postings fascinating (no I'm not trying to kiss up to everyone!). Anyway, in 1989 there was the compilation of both Ferry and Roxy songs called "Street Life - 20 Greatest Hits". In 1990 there was another compilation of Roxy songs called "Heart Still Beating". Hope this helps Stephen Charl wrote: > > Howdi folks.... > > Just joined the list and like to say hello to all. Actually just joined it > to ask a question. I have told him that we are sort of like Company Reps in that we are never done promoting Bryan's music to everyone we meet. We are almost like missionaries trying to spread the sound of Bryan to the non believers. I don't think it would do us any good if we all bombard I.E. right now, a softly softly approach would be the best and hope that we can get info as quick as it happens. comments please J.O'B. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 May 1999 20:23:20 +0100 From: "Killip family" Subject: [AVALON] Lyric connection - two minds one..... I'm with Arnie on this...if you listen to thealbum (or several live versions that I have) Bryan definately sings "two minds, one brain"..as Arnie says it a perfect fit. Especially as BF introduces the song (again at Denver) "for those of you with an interest in schzophrenia" I love "two minds, one vain" though...even if it isn't what our boy wrote back in '79! As to the decline of the northern mining industry Bahi, you're a genius. It's "roots strain against the grain" isn't it? And finally...Martin and Daniel, how are you? This is a song about the decline of heavy industry in the north of England, where the rain falls a lot (still): 'two mines were in vain'. A typical bit of Ferryesque wordplay ('tomb mines were in vein') almost subliminally reminds us of the perils and pitfalls of mining. It is at once both a personal tribute to his father's work with the pit ponies and a cleverly coded left wing ('hey, brother') song of workmanly comradeship in the poorly lit underground conditions ('here it is - - not over there'). Bahi, you're so near but so far. No, it's actually "two miabands, one veighan" and is a celtic slant, referring back to BF's celtic roots. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 May 1999 21:15:04 EDT From: ASchulberg@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Lyric connection - two minds one.....
