How would Bryan rate in a top 20 from Newcastle? I'd bet they'd put Sting on top even though he's inferior in my unbiased opinion. Don't know of too many other Geordie musicians so perhaps somebody could air their own opinions and also what you think Uncuts list would look like (there I go again - more lists). I'm not always sure that remastering is all it's made out to be (vinyl still sounds fantastic to me) but it would be the closest thing to studio product we're likely to hear over the next few months. Subject: Re: [AVALON] RE: Class of '77 Wow! It's nice to know I'm not alone in knowing that song! A german version of "Wot" by the good captain, incredible. That song really cracks me up. Normally I would never leave out Devo(i've actually taken the spud oath) and X, which you bring up a really good point there, since the La scene, particularly, gets overlooked but with such great bands such as X and The Dickies, it seems a bit silly. This seems a bit out of place here, but just for the heck of it, the soundtrack to "Return of the Living Dead" is excellent. I'm not sure if anyone else remembers this, but a few years ago, Vh1 used to have a show at night called Darcy's Music, and I remember Moon Zappa interviewed BF, and that she was quite a fan and seemed to really appreciate the chance meeting with him and talking(since there are many interviewers who are quite lucky and don't even know it!) Well good day to all! Btw, the list of musicians on this list has been excellent, it was good to see James mentioned. I shudder whenever the word "Remastered" is associated with favorite albums. (Snip) >I'm not always sure that remastering is all >it's made out to be (vinyl still sounds fantastic to me) but it would be >the closest thing to studio product we're likely to hear over the next few >months. One listen to Mobile Fidelity`s butchering of Dark Side Of The Moon would certainaly prove your point. IMO, very few "Remastered" albums sound better than the original (different maybe, but not better...so what`s the point?) and some sound worse than hitting the 3-D Surround-Sound thingy on your sound card. If it`s not broken.......... You've probably done this already but a quick net scan found some references to the German movie Looping, and to its director Walter Bockmayer (who seems to have moved from cinema to theatre) but no Roxy or Ferry links. The internet movie database, for example, contains a card for the movie (certificate 16 apparently) but nothing else relevant. They're waiting for reviews... Some sites say it's a 1980 movie, others 1981. You could tell your correspondent to search for contacts - there are lists of the movie's actors, writers, etc., and try finding e-mail addresses. I think good German would make it easier for him. I had to use to decode some Looping pages - always good for a laugh. (Run some Ferry lyrics into German or French then back again. Provides - deep new insights - between the tears.)
