I saw the Teletext news piece (it was on Grooves, wasn't it?), and the way I remember it he said that he was going to do an album of 30s, 40s and 50s covers, followed by an acoustic, straight vocal-and-piano album of originals. Can anyone dig out the original piece and confirm? Can anyone dig out the original piece and confirm? If I have a copy of the original message, it's on a dusty Syquest cartridge a few hundred miles away. My equally dusty memory insists, however unreliably, that there was only one record mentioned at the time - a piano album of 30s, 40s, and 50s covers. This seemed like whimsy back then - lost count of the number of times Bryan has suggested in the last 15 years or so that he'd do a vocal & guitar album. Excerpt of a closing conversation between Bryan and the show's presenter, Andy Peebles: AP: Is there one song above any other that you secretly wish you'd written? BF (sounding suddenly lost): Oh, wow... AP: I mean, do you have a favourite song of all time? BF: Oh, there are quite a few. There a Goffin & King one called Will You Love Me Tomorrow? - I wish I'd written that one. But there are many more... The programme was broadcast 13 years ago - April '86. Bryan said he hoped the album he was working on would be out for Christmas that year - Bete Noire was released 19 months later. I'll post the interesting bits from the programme over the next few weeks. I am interested in obtaining a CD copy of the Roxy King Biscuit 2CD set recorded in 1982. Is there anyone out there willing to part with a copy? I reckon Martin and Bahi have got it right. Over the last few years we know that BF has recorded loads of covers, worked with many musicians, had a fair amount of self-penned material etc. The 40s/50s album rumour DOES stack up, to me at least. And I think we should take seriously the speculation of use of Ferry material for a Roxy re-union album. When Martin reckons that Roxy are working together again - well, that's good enough for me! I don't know how you get all your info Martin, but it always seem spot on. Also, living in UK, one notices subtle cranking up of the BF publicity machine - appearances in newspapers, tracks played in the background of Eastenders, etc etc.. The concept of marketing a covers album ahead of a Ferry-written BF or Roxy album makes complete sense - it's called leverage. And most importantly of all...he even did a gig recently.
