I wanted to be sure that all of the questions could be answered by doing a web search (except for the Most Popular Roxy boot question, it just wasn`t there.) So here are the final answers: The band that asked Jobson to join was Procol Harum. I had read this ages ago in a Circus or Cream magazine, but was able to confirm it from the Procol Harum site: http://www.procolharum.com/ps_jobson.htm The "HINT: A former guitarist for this band later played with Ferry" was of course, Robin Trower. As for the best selling/most popular Roxy boot of all time, it`s First Kiss. The source of this comes from both Hot Wax and Clinton Heylin`s 1994 book, "BOOTLEG- The Secret History Of The Other Recording Industry". Although these books are several years apart thus placing it in slightly different spots, it averages at around #50 of the top100. Since no one got all of the answers, another trivia question is in order. This time only one. Please see my next post, "Free Programme- New Question". What reminded me of it was an artical by Dave Thompson called, "Mott The Hoople: All The Young Dudes` Capers" in the March 26 issue of Goldmine (which may be quite old. I`ve seen this artical before or one very much like it in another publication). He states: (referring to Motts reaction to the flat sales of their latest album Brain Capers) The groups mood was blacken even further when they found themselves on the receiving end of a serious slapping from their Island Records stablemates Traffic. In interviews, Hunter had never shied away from commenting upon the labels apparent perferential treatment of Steve Winwood and Co. (particulary when it came to recording budgets). Now Winwood seemed to be getting his revenge, with a song called "Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys," mocking precisely the kind of rock and working class heroes Mott The Hoople set themselves up as. Mott The Hoople were distinctly unamused. The artical goes on to say that Hunter was never really sure if they were indeed the "High Heeled Boy" referred to in the song until decades later when Hunter confronted Winwood on it. Hunter states, "Winwood just smiled." He is not your talker, Bryan. More your rambler. When he goes off at a tangent, it can be a bit hard to get him back. Oi, Bry, over here. "I am not a great talker, I don't talk much, you know." Actually, he would rather be singing. On the stage he is charismatic, it's the way he moves, controlled but sensual, knees slightly bent forward, what 'Arena' magazine described as the Ferry Effect. "I have never been very confident about speaking. I have always been more comfortable on stage singing than, like, talking." His struggle, for a man who is by nature shy and introverted, to lay himself open gives him a pained vulnerability. "I have still got a long way to go before I can really enjoy my own company," he admits. "Maybe that will never happen." He turns on the dazzling smile. Girls, I have to tell you that when he does that you pretty much want to faint. He is very neurotic and very beautiful. And those long, long legs, man oh man. Who needs a personality anyway. Ferry's album `Mamouna' was the end result of a fairly major obsession. For six years he strove for perfection, sculpted and chipped at layers and layers of sound for a masterpiece, his magnum opus, his passion. "You do go on a journey, it can be good or bad, it's the luck of the draw really." He spent all his money making it. Unfortunately the journey was bad. It failed, dismally. He took it badly. Rejection is hard for a slave to love. In the lyrics we find the bleaker vistas of love, nervy love songs. In the complex, experimental, strange notes, in the hypnotic arrangements, there is a sense of aching loneliness, of being lost, not knowing which way to turn. It is an atmospheric mood piece. "I make it so hard for myself. I did get more abstract. I like that myself but it's not a very commercial way of doing it, that's for sure. People find it a bit strange or a bit remote, a bit hidden, a bit inaccessible or something. I had a lot of turbulence in my life, I had two children in that time, but it wouldn't be worth anything if it was easy. It is sad because you always want your work to be commercial, inasmuch as you don't make any artistic sacrifices. I know my music is soulful. I put a lot of myself into it."
