Big Story in the London Evening Standard, Friday March 19 1999

"Bryan Ferry made a rare appearance on stage at the Porchester Hall last
night when he sung live for the first time in five years (sic) with Jools
Holland and his orchestra. ....Suporting the Rehabilitation for Addicted
Prisoners Trust and the Chemical Dependency Centre. Holland enthused: "Bryan
really rocked and said he would like to do it again."

Only reference to what he played is buried in some trivia about model Sophie
Dahl.."Ferry's return to the big time, performing his hit (sic) Do The
Strand....

I think the charity thread here is that Patti Boyd (Harrison/Clapton squeeze
/muse for "Something" and "Layla") promotes this Chemical Dependency thing
and is a friend of Lucy's. And Lucy's, er, problem has her involved wit CDC.

Anyway, great news. Porchester Hall is a lovely little venue, next to the
famous Porchester Turkish Baths, in Bayswater. I went to an antique fair
there once ! So it ain't Madison Square Gardens. Classic Ferry West London
stomping ground. One can't help thinking that the old boy is easing his way
back into the public eye ......
