The chord structure is: D F E Eb D F C E D F C E D F C E chorus: E G D A (repeat) Jason Thanks Jason but I know the basic chord structure to the song- that's the easy part. I was referring to Eddie Jobson's violin solo/break at the END of the song. The one where he justs takes off flying into the skies ( aided by phase shifting and flanging effects of course). I have tried to get it note for note and still have come up short. I play guitar and would love to at least attempt that solo on guitar. That is why I asked is there a complete book with transcrptions not just the piano parts. Has one beeen attempted? The book you mentioned, does it have that type of notation/transcription in it? Is so where can it be purchased. I have tried to find Roxy sheet music here in Chicago and have come up cold (like the weather is today). Jas PS to Lizzie: Was that you who called up WXRT this morning to remind that since they are featuring the year 1982 that they should play something from Avalon? I was in my car on the way to get gas when I heard the announcer said that a (female) listner always calls when they feature a particular year ( in this case after 1972)and asks for a Roxy selection that was released that year. I had a big grin on my face that could have melted the snow that's coming down in waves today. If it is you THANKS. If it's not, again THANKS. Oh by the way, they played Avalon. Jas PPS Off the subject, but did anyone see Blondie's concert on VH1 last week? Debbie was fabulous. Although a little heavier than she has been, but her voice has gotten stronger an she still looks great. They were here last Saturday at Tower records but I had to miss it due to studying (gag!!) - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 16:34:08 EST From: JObinv01@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Out Of The Blue Solo In a message dated 06/03/99 16:38:50 GMT, someone wrote: << Thanks Jason but I know the basic chord structure to the song- that's the easy part. It doesn't have the violin solo notation, but simply says ad-lib to fade. I have a book on new wave guitarists which has a section on Phil Manzanera which has some of his solos transcribed. It has a section of the Out Of the Blue solo. I can photocopy this for you if you like. Contact me if you are interested. I never realized how many hits they had. It made me think of Roxy reunion and how it would be much more difficult for them to pull of because of the different line-ups and instrumentations from year to year. My favorite backup singers were the one's on Ferry's SNL appearance, Tawatha Agee, Fonzi Thorton and Michele Cobbs. They were also on Roxy's Avalon tour. I recently picked up Bowie's "Black Tie/White Noise" video and there was Tawatha and Fonzi throughout. I wish they were on the Mamouna tour. I found the two singers very dull and bland. Even if adequate they added very little presence, although the thrill of the night for me was when Bry introduced the one with the big assets, she took a bow right in front of me and looked like she was going to fall over, Bryan looked me straight in the eyes and had the most animated goofy look on his face something like Mr. Bean. Eyes wide open. I felt honored but embarrassed as well.
