Surely "The Explorers" + Paul Thompson would be the perfet tribute band and, lets face it, they'd be cheap. 2. Venue : Washington Grammer would be a witty location... in theory. In reality it would most probably be a vile, windlashed, concrete edifice situated in a grey, charmless New Town. Much better, I think, for us all to meet up in an excellent modern London restaurant known as a Ferry haunt - eg Cibo - and go on to a small club that we take over for the night. (Or Paris, New York, Rome.) Above all we should make it a glamourous, stylish and fun evening. Roxy/Ferry fans have since 1972 stood aloof from the standard Rock n' Roll crowd, much to the amazement of the lagely denim-clad denizens of the music press, with our art-school styling and heroic sensibility. The expression "convention" conjours up precisely the Trekkie / Trainspotter nightmare that would have Bryan flying down to Rio, or indeed anywhere else but our get-together. No. Lets just call it a party for the Roxy Cognacenti, or somesuch. Any ideas ? I used to print a fanzine back in the late 80s. My friend and I did about 4-5 issues over a year but the drudgery of schlepping home the computer and scanner from work got to me. If has all of the tour books and that many records perhaps a better format would be a CD-ROM. I also collect Duran Duran records and in the last year I made a CD-ROM that depicted hundreds of releases from around the world. If has a scanner perhaps they could scan all of the covers and email me the graphics along with pertinent discographical information. If they could also scan the tour books we could have a tour book section that replicates those rare beauties for all to see. With a CD-ROM you get full color images at a cost infinitely smaller than color printing of any kind. I have the tools to make a CD-ROM that can be played on most any type of computer/operating system using the Acrobat format. Interested parties could then send me a blank CD-R and self-addressed stamped envelope [just like with audio CD duplicating threads on this mailing list] and I would burn them a copy and send it back.
