I saw him play in Cardiff on the 16th but I guess he's playing throughout Europe and the US, though I can't be sure. He includes Cordoba (co-written with Eno), The Style it Takes (co-written - perhaps - by Reed) and quite a few songs from his 70s albums, to which Manzanera and Eno originally contributed so much. And from the very people who were lamenting the unaccountable prejudices against him? For shame, Avalon. You've seen the entries thus far. I don't think the bar has been raised quite that high just yet. Eddie Jobson has had to swallow many a bitter pill But the other day he was overheard to trill: "in that place they defend me the hardest somehow they still think I'm the guitarist You think that fans would have heard of that guy called Phil." That was a true gesemkunstwerk, Colleen. It had just about everything, the metaphor "a bitter pill," direct and candid quotation from our hero, and even a subtle, provocative reference to us here in Avalonia. This is definitely a new standard of literary excellence. We're talking about something which had some importance over 20 years ago but which is now a total irrelevance. Let's hear some more interest in the music and anything which is emerging about Bryan's new album which is surely due for release soon?? Richard, I'm the person you should be picking on, not Heather, since I was the author of the post in question. Since you're new to all of this, I understand that it is easy to get the attributions mixed up. As for the sparkling/dull nature of parties, well, they're only as good as the guests who show up, no? So I'm sure we're all glad that you're here to liven up the gathering. And we welcome--not to mention eagerly await--your new conversational gambits to rescue us from our remaking and remodeling. I don't intend to embroil myself in conversation of this sort and will not respond any further on this other than to say if the subject of all our fascination were to peruse what goes on here I feel he'd be bitterly disappointed. I look forward to talking music with people in the future.
