I flew to Dublin to see Mr F play at the R.D.S. on 13th December 1988. After all the encores he walked back on with only Niel Hubbard who had an acoustic guitar. He was cluthching a piece of A4 paper with lyrics on it. He said "it's a long time since I sung this song so I need some help (waving the lyrics) so maybe you Irish can help me" and began to sing Carrickfergus (Which, at that time, he had never done live before ) When he started the 2nd verse he said "I've got someone else here to help me " and on walked The Edge from U2 (local Dublin beat Group). One of them, but it's not their influence that's interesting, it's the work itself. 3. Which of the two phases of Roxy Music interest you most? One of Ferry's great qualities is that he's covered a very wide range of styles, while remaining gloriously, uniquely himself. 4. Which is your favourite Roxy Music album? I stole it off my older brother when I was a kid, because I was intrigued by the cover. And the music just seemed so... didn"t know the word then... but so DECADENT! 5. HEART STILL BEATING and MADNESS IN MY SOUL are both good. Are there others? 7. Which music internet site do you find best for buying BF/RM material? I've never bought over the internet, but I'm sure one day I'll succumb to ebay, despite the risk. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Jan 1999 18:10:00 -0800 From: "Brian L. Will >Hey another Capricorn who's also a Roxy Fan. Way cool dude. Happy belated B-day. Oh by the way folks,Blockbuster Music/Video has a new contest promotion and Bryan's The In Crowd is playing in the background. I just heard it tonight. On the Jerry Ferry Jagger front, there was a feature story in the Chicago Sun-Times today about the divorce. It seems that that the marriage between Jerry and Mick may not be legit. There appears to be no papers to back it up. I guess that ceremony that they went thru in Bali may have been just a ceremony-period. Jerry is contending it was but of course Mick is thinking otherwise. Well she had better come up with proof, papers signed etc. because $50 million dollars is at stake. Hey with that amount of moola, she could have a Really Good Time. I do hope she gets what's her due. Yes she dropped Bryan for Mick, and the Bride Stripped Bare and Some Girls was the direct result, but I think she's deserves to get every penny. I love Mick and the Stones, (and I just got thru playing Exile On Main Street) but this time I think he got it all wrong this time. No wonder they are touring so soon. Of course I will try my best to be there. Please don't mistake me for one of these worldly people who could go to different cities to see a show. I was very lucky I saw him in Boston in '94. No need to be Jealous, Guy. I would be happy to see him in Boston again. BTW how's your basketball team doing in Chicago? :-) Jim The city is in shock and that's no Bull :( I guess it all had to end sometime. - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jan 1999 08:03:56 +0000 From: "Martin Stockman" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Bryan ferry In Ireland > I flew to Dublin to see Mr F >play at the R.D.S. on 13th December 1988.
