Do relax, however, as the project is still in its infancy. I've only received Gareth's and Jim Spellman's tapes thus far. For those who missed my December message about the ground rules I repeat it below. One offering that seems to keep coming up is clips from the promo for Mamouna that I think Virgin distributed to many stations in different countries, and they re-edited accordingly...Bryan talking about the relationship between an artists working style and that of the musician, clips of the band working, Bry showing the painting of the horse and generally commenting on visuals behind album. Basically I've got that and will use it. What we are really looking for is Bry on talk shows in different countries, and doing (preferably non-mimed) performances...... Dig out your old vids and have a look. Dont worry about money or video type or quality at this stage. Lets get it all together, edit it and then work who wants it and how to get it to them.... > >>Okay, Avalonions, here's the details of how we're going to put together this >>comprehensive compilation of global TV performances by Bryan Ferry. >> >>If you've been following the list during the past month you will be familiar >>with how Gareth McGinley has an amazing collection of clips on tape, and how >>fellow Avalonians have chipped in with esoteric additions to form an >>outstanding and eclectic selection of performances. Hello, Can anyone out there help me to determine the DATE and LOCATION for the below Roxy concert? I taped it off the radio on a show called the King Biscuit Flower Hour around '79 or early '80 I think. Below is a listing of songs and Bryan Ferry's dialouge that was included between the songs. I think the show might be from the Hammersmith Odean, but I'm not sure of the exact date(around '79). OK bootleggers check your collection and let me know, thanks. ("Hello,Thank You. Great to see you again. We're Roxy Music.") 1.TRASH ("This ones for ya from the Country Life album. This one's called Out Of The Blue.") 2. Out of The Blue ("Hey, that's Phil Manzanera on Guitar, Phil.") ("Two in one, this one is called Still Falls The Rain.") 3. Still Falls The Rain ("Thank You, We did an album sometime ago called Stranded, here's one from that. It's called Mother of Pearl.") 4. Mother Of Pearl ("Let me introduce to you, ya thank you very much, on bass guitar, Gary Tibbs.) 5. Angel Eyes 6. In Every Dream Home A Heartache 7. Casanova 8. Love Is The Drug Thanks, Rod - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 10:35:35 EST From: JObinv01@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Heart Still Beating all of this album was obviously not recorded in Frejus and is not simply the soundtrack to "The High Road " video. If you listen to Jealous Guy at 1 min 48secs -1 min 52 secs, Bryan repeats the line "I didn't mean to hurt you" which he doesn't do on the video. He does this on "The High Road" mini LP and this tells me that the "Heart Still Beating" version of this song was recorded in Glasgow 30th September1982. Dance Away has only 2 verses on the video and goes into a "funky jam" before it segues with Love Is The Drug . These two songs are clearly separate on "Heart Still Beating" and Dance Away has the 3rd verse. This CD has probably been compiled from several shows and mixed together to sound like one. most of the stuff probably came from Frejus and this is why it has been credited. I don't think this is the only BF/RM that has inaccurate credits Has anybody got any info on wrong credits???? - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 10:43:28 EST From: JObinv01@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] The Right Stuff Lyrics Does any one have the missing 2 lines in the lyrics for The Right Stuff from Bete Noire. From 2mins 54 secs -3 mins 02secs Bryan sings 2 lines that I cannot make out what he sings. These 2 lines have been missed out from everywhere I have seen the lyrics printed. (CD/LP sleeve, Smash Hits magazine, Web sites etc) Does anyone have a good quality live recording of this song? - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 11:37:28 PST From: "gareth mc ginley" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Heart Still Beating >Dance Away has only 2 verses on the video and goes into a "funky jam" before >it segues with Love Is The Drug . I always thought this was the very best bit of the "High Road" video and was really annoyed when it didn't appear on the "Heart Still Beating" album. It also proves that Bryan still had a sense of humour in 1982 because that background singer (Foni Thornton, I think) was more efeminite than anything R.M ever had even at it's camp peak back in 1972. And what about that little guy in the shorts bashing away furiously at any instrument he can find. Kept me laughing the first time I watched the video anyway. I think Bryan always wanted to keep something of that quirky theme running through R.M. even at their heights of sophistication. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 11:57:35 PST From: "gareth mc ginley" Subject: [AVALON] Unknown Pleasures Well, it seems the Avalon list has struck a bit of a publicity blow for RM. Mojo magazine has the Unknown Pleasures bio at the top of last months top selling books, and the source is Helter Skelter books which somebody on this list provided a link for. Perhaps this will make some of the rock journals sit up and take notice of Roxy's influence, and surely it is not unreasonable now to expect a spate of releases of concerts, books etc. I'd really like to see a public release of those radio 1 sessions. Stumps book, it seems did not get one bad review of the many rock journals/ newspapers that wrote about it. Quite impressive really. I suppose for anyone not on this list Roxy are really quite mysterious and hard to find information on so that probably made a lot of people interested in buying the book. By the way I've been forced to go the whole of last week up until today without any RM/BF and it was really a bit of a test. I'll have to check myself into a Roxy Anonymous clinic. Y'see Roxy are a bit like cornflakes, "I'd forgotten how good these tasted", and now I'm hooked again. I think that jam is the ending to Sly Stone's Stand. How about the Newtown video? It may have been recorded from one show but it was filmed from at least two. The band members have different outfits on during the same song....keeps my head spinning... I kid you not kids. The tour is going to start in the middle of April (April 13th) and will continue through the summer. He will be starting in Seattle Washington and the last show in the U.S. will be in Duluth Minnesota. On the European front, he will visit the UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark and Poland (It is rumored that he will be in Germany, but I am not able to confirm that at this point) I guess the best thing to do to find out more information is to call Ticketmaster and ask for info...good luck to y'all...I already have my tickets for 5 shows!!!!!! - -------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Jan 1999 01:24:34 EST From: LizzieJim@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Bryon on tour?????
