If you want to check it out, go to this page http://pages.ebay.com/aw/safeharbor-illegal.html I'm guessing that someone tipped them off, or else they found out, that it was a copy of a VHS tape, not an original. Since they won't allow sale of anything that is bootleg, this is probably why they yanked the auction. - --alegna - -----Original Message----- From: Helchat@aol.com To: avalon@smoe.org Date: Friday, January 01, 1999 2:30 PM Subject: [AVALON] New town video on eBay >Hello and Happy New Year, fellow Avalonians. > >I had recently bid on the new town video on eBay and was the highest bidder >when I received the following information: > >"New Town OOP vhs on which you have bid, has been ended early by eBay. They won`t allow CD-R or Video copies of originals. I think E-Bay is a fine organization and does it`s best to deliver a great service, but with the volume of sales it handles, it`s easy to slip a sham in. Luckily, they are often caught before anyone is ripped off. I`ve sold several bootlegs on E-Bay with great results but the only time I actually bid on and won highest bidder, the seller informed me he thought the bids would be higher and refused to send the item unless I paid his price. Needless to say, E-Bay came down hard on him and is pressing charges as he lives in a state where auctions were legally binding, or some such thing. Anyway, I`ve yet to receive it. Lesson learned: The world is full of amateurs and dumb-asses.
