I suppose at the end of the day it is down to personal taste. I accept that Asia started well and thenlost ground- as people left. Interestingly enough soem one has speculated about Phil Manzanera getting involed in their music. One thing they are better (and Geoff Downes in particular) at than Roxy is keeping the fans informed as to what is going on! Incidentally what are Phil and Andy doing these days. On the subject of bass players what about Gary Tibbs- we could then have the Vibrators rather than Asia. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [mailto:owner-avalon@smoe.org]On Behalf Of > jspellma@techadvisers.com > Sent: 17 October 1998 22:30 > To: avalon@smoe.org > Subject: RE: [AVALON] New Roxy Bio? > > > I was not taking a shot at Asia, I just thought it > would be odd hearing Wetton break into an Asia song, > like Andy and Phil did w/ Wild Weekend/Diamondhead. Listen to "Both Ends Burning" on VIVA!; they're screaming their lungs out and really don't add anything good to that song. Yannick Ettienne though is a must since we must assume that "Avalon" would be on the setlist. Again, though, this is all pure speculation since no one has confirmed a reunion, let alone a tour. Doesn't mean we can't have fun hypothecating.
