Jim, I think it's Bruce's abrasive edge that is why he's not heard of in the mainstream these days. Just as well. He was the better vocalist and the best songwriter in Cream IMO. Trower always had a pretty good singer but not much going on w/ the bass. BLT was the best of both. Clapton, (who was also good in his short stint in The Yardbirds btw) was probably 2nd to only Hendrix in the sixties. Cream was the perfect band for him. Now he's 2nd to only Phil Collins in producing middle of the road Top 40 nonsense. As far as getting flamed? There is still time but I doubt Bruce would invoke the passions of a Jerri/Lucy debate. I got whacked a few times by a stick or a stone, or a broken picture frame in my defense of the Stones and Jerri Hall this weekend. But I can still look myself in the mirror. It can be pretty rough around here. I'm Black and Blue to prove it. In regards to tangents? Music topics have a way of coming back to the topic. Bruce-BLT-Trower-Taxi. Besides if all we can talk about is the people who screwed Bryan and the people he screwed, all we would talk about is Jerri Hall, Eno and Paul Thompson. Jerry Hall is from Mesquite, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. She might speak with an accent, but she is no stranger to urbania. As for her intelligence, well what would you do if you were a 5'11" high school senior and a drop dead beauty and a very serious modeling agent said, don't go to college, come to Europe and the "world will be your oyster" My God, give the girl a break. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 19:46:25 -0500 From: HipChip Subject: Re: [AVALON] Guitar Solos For me, its Amazoma, Those strained riffs, like a rocket on a launchpad in trying to break loose; then wham, warp speed. 2. It was hosted by Hall in all of her Texas twangy glory with, yes, more than enough references to her own storybook marriage to Mick Jagger to make me want to change the channel. So why didn't I? Well, it WAS Jerry Hall and we should all admit right now that the only point of interest we really have in her is that she was once engaged to Bryan Ferry! How many of you have read her autobiography for the Ferry referenced pages alone?
