Of course you can`t expect anyone who`s been around as long as them to create major works forever. I`ll give it to them for their longevity and there`s nothing wrong with resting on your laurels. If anyone deserves it, the Stones do. However, I`ve always felt their creativity dried up when they kicked the hard drugs. Don`t get me wrong, I applaud them for that, especially Keith, but there`s no denying it. Everyone has their favorite Stones era, and mine was the '69-'75 era, the height of their hard drug use. Then came Black and Blue in '76(?), IMO the worse album they ever put out. I knew then it was all over. The first Stones concert I attended was in '75, the last was '89 (Steel Wheels?) and it was hard to believe this was the same band. I just couldn`t stand it and left half way through it. It was too much like a family friendly Sesame Street On Ice show. The days of Stray Cat Blues, Starf***er, and Sister Morphine being part of the set list are long gone. Although they put out some really good stuff since, they`ll never produce masterpieces like Sticky Fingers/Exile On Main Street/Goats Heads Soup/It`s Only Rock N Roll. The Stones release albums and tour every three years but can anyone honestly say that anything in the last 20 years is memorable beyond that tour? They're an oldies band like the Monkees or Steve Miller or any of the other perennial "summer tour" bands that haven't made a material contribution in decades. Arnie Sorry Arnie, but I'm a Stones fan too and true that have not reached the heights they had decades ago, (well at least since Some Girls ( hello Jeri Hall!)) they still give a pretty good show. I still have buzz after last year's tour ( and I sat prettey close to the stage-the first ever). Outside of Roxy, P-Funk, the Cure, AND Jimi Hendrix, I need my my daily Stones fix. The Monkees and Steve Miller-HA! Give me a break.
