Roxy Music Does anyone have news of Christgau's views on Ferry's post-Avalon stuff? Arnie - I guess that, since you're posting from an anthology of 70s reviews, you're stopping at Manifesto. Are we to expect anything about The Bride Stripped Bare? I'd expect Christgau to maul the recent stuff, claiming it to be heartless and boring but would be interested in what he has to say. Thanks for the stuff so far - I'm warming to the curmudgeon's laconic style. From the preview I heard, I can tell you that this is going to be one amazing album. John and Eddie Jobson's talented assistant Mark Sterhling were working on a song called, "THE HAND OF DEATH". This song could easily play in Europe's biggest nightclub having a heavy rave flavor (read: Jean Michel Jarre) to it mixed with with a moody Middle Eastern beat. The song contains several breaks, where John Wetton's voice echoes the words "The Hand of Death", to a few chords on an acoustic guitar. When compared to the other UK albums, this one more closely resembles the first UK album. But it also has the feel of a Pink Floyd album in concept and execution, but taking that thought into a much more progressive and experimental area. I wait in great anticipation of this new album and I encourage you to check it out when it does finally arrive. I'm crossing my fingers for a late fall release.
