Yes, it is quite a common argument for a critic to say that well, I've 25 years or so experience in listening to music, this allows me to say this or that. No, he is still only a stupid writer who appears to be more interested in looking blasé toward his public than analyzing songs properly. Anyway, just let me tell all of you that "Roxy Music", the album, has never been my favourite, and as goes for Eno, he is a genius for sure - but Roxy sound much nicer after his leave. Sorry if I shocked anyone with this confession... Bryan playing a role in a porn version of James Bond looks interesting. Has he ever thought about a remake of "For whom the bells toll"? Best wishes for all, Vicente ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Jul 1998 08:59:22 EDT From: ASchulberg@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Christgau Reviews- Stranded The critic writes: Any artist as oblique and ambitious as Bryan Ferry deserves an oblique, ambitious review, here provided (unintentionally) by Sidney Tillem in his "Figurative Art 1969: Aspects and Prospects": "By moral in the context of art I mean a style that executes the deeper social and psychological function of form, as opposed to a particular aspect of vanity called *taste*. Pop sensibility, pop consciousness, pop sentimentality have been invaluable in clarifying the provincialism and nostalgia that actually permeate a culture that has come to pride itself on sophistication. But they have not resulted in a new art simply because the requisite idealism has been lacking." To which your poster adds a deafening, "Huh????" While working within his standard darkly dance-oriented, Ferry incorporates several new touches -- namely, several psuedo-world music touches. None of it would have worked if Ferry hadn't blended them in so seamlessly with his stylish pop, which hasn't dated in the seven years that he's been away. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Copyright © All Music Guide LOL... It true, It's true!. So now Liz is Bryan and Bryan is Liz and I am he as you are he and...... Hey Liz Phair lives here in Chicago on the northside like I do. I will seek her out now that I know what I know. Seriously, I sent the owner of that site an message that he should re review his review ( or remake/model).
