Jim: You've made your points and they are noted. When I do meet Bryan again, (I had the brief pleasure of getting his attention in the back of a limo after Roxy's concert here in Chicago during the Manifesto Tour in 1979), I will not act as though I don't know him (who's kidding whom?). Nor will I act like a blabbering idiot asking silly questions ( I will try not to faint either). I will approach him, as I would any other person, introduce myself and try to engage in conversation. Of course I will let on that I am a fan ( a big one) and I have been following his career with great interest. Despite what some think of him, I'm sure he will be flattered and not bored. I'm sure he is used to it by now and probably will be quite gracious-let's give him some credit. If he asks me about my life I will tell him and of course inquire about his family and wish them all well. Once he finds out I'm from Chicago and wants to talk sports, including soccer, then the conversation would proceed. Now of course I could be wrong aout all of this, but I'd like to think that he is a nice guy and truly apprecites that people think of him. Let's face it, he's a star and he knows he's a star and stars know they have fans, and if they didn't want to be in the spotlight, then they would not keep coming back, time and time again to entice us-which of course they do and he does. As for the Chicago Bulls, until your latest reply I had no idea where you came from. I ASSUMED that maybe you were someone from Europe or South America where Soccer is king and basketball is just another "American" sport. Well since you are from Boston, well that's another story. You failed to mention that Boston also was the home of the Celtics who have MORE championships than the Bulls. Boston had Bird, we have Michael. This is all new to us and we are relishing in it while we can, but it will never happen again. Again my whole point was to share a little tidbit, which I appreciate when others do the same. No it has nothing to do with the subject of this list, nor Deep Purple for that matter (I like them too-Space Trucking is the best!), but just another way to keep us all connected-even thru the wires ( a slight Peter Gabriel reference). By the way, did any members of Deep Purple play on any sessions with Bryan or any other members of Roxy (notice how I bring it back to the subject of this list???)????? Jas Jas, don't get me wrong, I'm all for the irrelevant. My only point is that whether it's a famous singer or actress, Bill Clinton or Princess Diana, they all made the decision to live in the public eye. Does being the kid of someone famous give the world the right to know what they do and who they're dating? ....As for the Bulls, although I can appreciate MJ and the gang, I could never have the love for them that you do. How could you expect me to? Or to even feel indifferent? Your team comes to my town and kicks the crap out of my team for years. Good for you, bad for me. .......And regarding meeting Bryan. do you think he would respond to talk about what a certain song is about or how is junior doing in Biology? Maybe he would. I don't know, but he seems like a very private man. Any time I got to meet a celebrity they were turned off if I started to talk about them, then that was the end. I got to know people better when I pretended I didn't know them. Sometimes the less questions you ask, the more answers you get. If I met Bryan I think I would say, "Bryan who? I thought you were Rudy Tomjonivitch." Then talk about Deep Purple and the World Cup. Hi all, Now that I have accepted the fate of no BF new release this year (just a guess), so what are others listening during this drought? I am more into later phase of RM and BF stuff from B&G and on. One artist that I discoved about a month ago and have listening intensely is Alison Moyet. Her last CD Essex is simply amazing. A 5-star CD definitely. Sad thing is the CD is out-of-print in US. Looking forward to the recommendations! Thanks. ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V3 #160 **************************** ======================================================================== Please send any questions or comments about the list to avalon-digest-owner@smoe.org
