A Brazilian who knows how to use the word "Mad!" I love it! And an experienced Roxy man! Sexy! Welcome to the group, Vicente! I think you'll like it here. Sometimes things die down to a barely-detectable collective whisper, but they usually pick up again. Our greatest moments (in my opinion) have been when this elusive member, Jimmy Vapor, starts a contest. Then you can barely even hear yourself think above the din in our swank little Avalonian cafe. I hope you get to see one of these contests. They're hilarious, gossipy, and downright thrilling! Oh course, aside from contests, the thing that unites us is our love for Roxy Music. I've been a fan since about 1983 or so. Avalon was all I listened to for the first 10 years of my Roxy indoctrination. It wasn't until the time of my graduation from UCLA that I listened to anything older. Now I love it all and they are my favorite band. Welcome to the list, Vicente! I love your name! I hope you post often! That is a great story, Hipchip! I can just see you there with the tall Jeri Hall lookalike, in back of the British ROTC guy. And all these characters sound really 70's. I'm truly impressed, wish I could've seen them when there were "Roxy" instead of when Bryan was just a solo act. I would have been the hippest 4-year old around! Great story! : - ) Heather ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 May 1998 12:31:13 -0700 From: Frank and Liz Smith Subject: Re: [AVALON] Roxy In Support What I wan to know is...who played with Ferry on the 1994 US tour? (i was able to buy a twin of that car -- not superstitous) - --Theresa ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 May 1998 16:42:10 -0700 From: Rex Estorffe Subject: Re: [AVALON] Howdy all Heather Marie Propes wrote: > > Wow! Ladies after your nights of debauchery in Athens with Bryan i suppose you will now be 'Flying down to Rio',never a dull moment with these two ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 May 1998 20:37:27 -0500 (CDT) From: Heather Marie Propes Subject: [AVALON] my new CD and my dream concert Oh I am soooo happy! I am now listening to my brand new, great sounding CD of Siren, made on my friend Solomon's CD-R machine from a beat-up album copy I found in the $.50 bin of my local used record store! CD-R machines rock! OK, sometime ago someone mentioned the ideal line-up for a Roxy Music reunion tour - a great idea - and something I would be thrilled to get to see! Maybe if enough of us Avalonians post our "dream song lists," Bryan, who I am sure is lurking, will get the idea to do one. So here's my list, in the proper order: Jealous Guy (start things off nice and slow with this wonderful Lennon cover) Whirlwind (to send the audience spinning) Editions of You (more on the upbeat disco theme) Angel Eyes(the kicker) now things will slow down a bit and get more melancholey.... Song for Europe (moody and nostalgic, European angst) In Every Dream Home a Heartache (like riding in the back of a limosine in a Parisian art film - Belle de Jour) Sentimental Fool (KILLER song. The falsetto makes my cry) Grey Lagoons (this one's so heady I can't even desribe it) and the climax.... Triptych (I LOVE this one, although I will never know why because I can't figure out it's meaning. Ah, the mysteries of life!) back to the "high road".... Mother of Pearl (starting in slowly with my favorita) Casanova (cool and stylish - the verion off of "Let's Stick Together") The Thrill of It All (Now I'm starting to chair dance) Re-Make Re-Model (Now I'm time-warping in the isles!) Street Life (the girl in back of me hands me a rubber band because I'm whipping her with my hair) Let's Stick Together (a girl can pretend she's Jeri Hall if she's out on the town in a leopard skin dress, can't she?) slowing down for the grand finale.... Eight Miles High ( I can really appreciate the music in this one) A Really Good Time (I'm having the BEST!!!!) Prairie Rose (for Jeri, right?) Avalon (We're all sitting down in our chairs again, coming off the "high" of dancing) While My Heart is Still Beating (the song that best describes how love feels) India (to leave us all with an exotic feeling) So this is what I'd like to see! If anyone disagrees with this set, make yourselvs known! I was at the Austin, Ft. Worth, Las Vegas, and Berkeley shows. The only Roxy alum was Neil Hubbard (Avalon). Robin trower did sit it on two songs in Berkeley, if ex Procol Harem members count. Also, the base player was awesome. Does anybody know who that was. I still gotta come up with my Affair To Remember in Athens with Bryan.... the conclusion, that is.....I have been rather busy, gang... sorry! Goodnight, all!!
