"Lover" is the b-side on one of the singles taken fromt the Flesh & Blood album, and is one of my absolutely favourite Roxy-songs. Michael don't leave' but be nice! Ahem. "crises." Pl. of crisis. Page 336 of my dictionary. As for the other misspelling of the day, well, I guess a college education ain't what it used to be. ObAvalon: And I bet Mr. Ferry (with 2 Ys, by the way) could, and would, attest to that as well. Colleen ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 May 1998 00:27:16 EDT From: Dawndalian Subject: [AVALON] Ferry Fantasy Scenario...... by request.... Okay Jimmy Vapor, alias Bryan Ferry.... this one's for you.... Now, keep in mind, readers that I am composing this amid much distraction... The Poetry and Prose of Pros Jimmy Vapor and Heatherita are tough to follow.... Imagine, if you will, Summer in Athens.... A young blonde babe,(that would be Me..) traveling alone in the land of her ancestors is desperately seaching for an available Taxi cab during the madness of the 2004 Summer Olympics which have returned back to the Motherland. The heat of the sun is pounding on my body and my alabastar skin is aglow....As is the custom in Athens, taxis (TAXI, Gr= go, travel, trip) can and will pick up several different passengers en route... As fate would have it, I saw a cab, occupied by a singular man.... I manage to get the attention of the driver and at the stoplight, jump in the backseat with the unsuspecting passenger, who is gazing out the window, smoking a cigerette, staring through black and tortoise Persol sunglasses. Clearly this guy has flare.... a ivory silk shirt with a loosened tie round his neck, black slacks, cuffed at the bottom....he is sporting a shiny pair a Ferragamos....on his lap is a beautifully-worn leather pocketbook and a gold cigarette case, emblazoned with the initials, BF.... He turns to me, startled by my surprise arrival and stares in a restrained disbelief... Before he could get out the words, I ask the driver, in Greek, to deliver me to the Hotel Grand Bretagne the grand dame of Athens...He turns to tell me that he is heading there already.... Meanwhile, the man with the gold cigarette case looks at me and says, "Why on earth are you in my cab?" "Oh, I am sorry to startle you.... it is customary in Greece to share cab rides.... I think is sorta fun, really...So you are going to the Bretagne as well?" He takes off his Persols, and now, I am the one in disbelief... it is before my adoring eyes, Bryan Ferry. He replies, "Yes, a friend of mine, Heather.... she did some business deals with me a few years back, she recommended it to me, have you stayed there before?" Naturally, I tried to maintain my composure here, my legs were quivering, my my heart pounding so hard, pulsating blood raced through my veins as I realised, I am Sitting in a Cab ALONE with Bryan Ferry!!! Omigod!!! So we chat along, paying no mind to the fact that traffic is at a standstill....we share cigarettes... by now he knows that I am a Big Fan... by now, he knows more about me than I do of him.... I think he found my effervescent, fluffy personality amusing.... and I find him absolutely marvelous.... Just as I knew I would. We pull up to the Hotel, and he gets out one side, I get out the other.. He motions to me that he will pick up the bill... but then I hear the cab ask him for an outrageous 6000 drachmas... Bryan starts handing him the money, then I step in and start in on the taxi driver, telling him to stop guaging the foreigner...I say 1000 drachmas and that is all you get (Greek cab drivers like to take advantage of foreigners ... consider yourself warned....)!!! Bryan is pretty impressed with my command of Greek (Oh Bryan, its my turn to be your Siren....) and we continue together to the Desk inside... Feeling a bit like Ferris Beueler, I find a Bellboy and slip him a pack of Marlboros and several hundered drachmas to take Mr. Ferry's luggage to MY room, and my luggage to HIS room.... Hmm, this could get good... Ah, my most esteemed Avalonians... you will have to tune in next time for the Conclusion of A Night at the Parthenon... Hoping we all can enjoy some hot, radical sweaty sex this weekend, even if it CAN'T be with Bryan Ferry.....
