And when it comes down to it, nobody knows who Jimmy Vapor really is. And nobody knows whether or not Bryan Ferry is lurking or assuming a different identity. However, I am certain that Jimmy Vapor couldn't be Bryan Ferry. I'll tell you why. Someone mentioned this in the past, but it's a fact that Vapor constantly makes use of American slang. Just the name "Jimmy Vapor" is so American. No Brit would ever have thought that up. Doesn't it remind you of some rockabilly guy in dark glasses and a goatee, like Roy Orbison or something? If Jimmy Vapor were Bryan Ferry he would give himself away personally as sounding British. British people just can't help doing that. He would slip and say "arse" or "whilst" or one of those Beatrix Potter words. Or maybe he would just spell the word "organization" with an "s" like all British people do. One final argument, Jimmy Vapor is a member of some subversive organisation known as PAPTI. This means "Post Modernists are People Too." Anyone who would promote something like PAPTI is probably interested in trendy-postmodern theories like those of Derrida and Baudrillard, which I don't understand too well but they have something to do with the "fragmentation of the self," and the idea that we are living in a "world of simulacra" in which we are surrounded by images with no core of reality. Whoever "plays" Vapor in real life is probably trying to live out his own postmodern identity by reconstructing himself as a "persona" which he believes a lot of Americans would probably suspect to be Bryan Ferry's surrogate persona, should he be lurking on the web. So in conclusion, I believe Jimmy Vapor to be a rockabilly guy with an Roy Orbison complex who is impersonating Bryan Ferry impersonating a rockabilly guy with a Roy Orbison complex on the internet. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion. Heather M. He was conceived after their 4:00 a.m. tryst at Topanga State Beach, south of Malibu, in 1963. His real name is actually "Jimmy Surfer" but he changed it. Of course, Marilyn wanted to give him a "proper" upbringing, but Arther wouldn't allow it and besides, the CIA was always trying to confiscate the child. But, of course, human error always intervenes and so Jimmy was captured and sent to Ireland, but not before Jackie found out. And when she did, boy was she mad! She actually arranged a hitman to shoot her own husband, and well, the rest of the story is history. But you can just imagine what a childhood poor Jimmy had. I guess that explains his mysogeny and his somewhat delicate sensibilities. Well, if you have any more questions, just ask. Please accept my apologies for keeping my identity a secret all this time. My charade must be revealed. I am THE one and only Bryan Ferry. To allow a hint or two for all of you I did not change my initials. The last name of Folks was chosen to add a feel of me being one of the people, a common man. Additionally, you will note the alias e-mail address of BikeRider.com. As many of you know I was quite fond of cycling (you know Tour de France style) when I was just a lad. I was never very successful in the sport and this, as we all know, was a blessing in disguise that led me to the arts and music no less. Again everyone please accept my sincerest apologies. I have enjoyed much of the banter in this discussion list, even though some of it was a bit hurtful at times. I will most likely unsubscribe myself from this arena to allow all of you to speak freely without fear of damaging my ego. You may however contact my directly to answer any questions. As far as the new album is going, I don't have much to say.
