Extremely quirky New Wave and I never made the Ferry connection with the vocalist but in retrospect I guess that is a touchstone. They had 3 albums with a different guitarist/vocalist on each one. Their second album, "Fabrique" [1982] is my favorite electro-Brit-funk album [sorry Heaven 17!] of all time. Each song is a state-of-the-art coctail of synth-funk tailored for decadence. The analog synthesis commandeered by cult producer Zeus B. Held is still jaw-dropping to this day. It's a lush, warm and complex blend of sound like nothing else since! I finally tracked down all the 12'ers from this recently and I'm waiting for anything but "Love Shadow" [on Rhino's New Wave series #6 I believe] to make its digital debut. The third Fashion lp, "Twilight Of Idols"[1984] I can't comment on since my used vinyl copy skips like crazy. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 15:21:32 EDT From: ShyGuy8119 Subject: Re: [AVALON] Fashion History In a message dated 98-04-27 09:33:02 EDT, you write: << This is actually of list I guess, but "Product Perfect" was the first Fashion album. I am not so new to Roxy or Ferry, but I am rather new to the list. I will make an attempt in the few moments I have here to discuss your queries... as I don't think I have the answers ..... I have been asking myself the same questions.... But I CAN say that I share your opinions with regards to the Old 70's material... It seems to have more depth, more despair, more emotion....And the music has so many Layers to it...Avalon was the first Roxy album I had ever heard, in fact, it was the first CD I ever heard, back in '84, and it is a marvelous collection of music and moods. Avalon is sort of sacred to me.... I think all of Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry fans (me=FANatic!) are disgusted and moreso, just plain disappointed in the generalized lack of recognition that Ferry receives in the music biz...Perhaps Ferry needs a new publicity machine? Maybe he just doesn't Want one.... I wish I knew.... I too am open to ideas and (yikes) corrections! Waht I want to know is... WHEN is the next Tour?? Bring it on, gang, From a Relatively Quiet member.... Dear Joey, 1) There are only two people on the list, Graham and Arnie. You will get to know them intimately. 2) No. You know how to spell. 3) Critics are somewhere below lepers and disc jockeys in the food chain. Please refrain from mentioning them or the tired Why-Aren't-Roxy-In-The-Roque- And-Rolle-Hall-Of-Fame non-discussion or else you will get a very long visit at your home from both Graham and Arnie, neither of whom are toilet-trained. 4) Lost his best cover model.
