According to him the video was called Beat Club. He could be right because mines is a reissue of an original so they probably changed the name. On the video was a few live performances, a few videos and a few performances from things like T.O.T.P. They are official videos. Nobody seems to have picked up on the idea of putting all the T.V/ live performances on one tape. I wonder could anyone estimate a cost for something like this? I dont mean buying all the video equiptment but I'm sure some store would do it. If it was'nt too costly I might do it myself. The interviewer said "I mean I think you wear a suit even better than Ferry" as if that was the ultimate honour that could be bestowed upon a person dress sense. With a smile on his face Palmer replied "Gianfranco Ferry?" and then said "I know who you mean". I'm not really into Palmer but some of the stuff they showed from his latest album sounded really good. Anyone know of it? Graham I saw your post about the record store in Manhattan. Since I'm going there for the summer next month I would be very greatful if you would send me details on what B.F/R.M material they have. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 17:06:27 PDT From: "David Nickel" Subject: [AVALON] X-Files soundtrack ready to go - Including Roxy cover Hi all...how do you think this will turn out? (cut and pasted from somewhere (can't remember where) on the net) ... X-Files soundtrack ready to go After months of speculation, the track listing for one of the most anticipated soundtracks on the summer has finally been locked in -- and there are more than a few surprises. The final track listing, supplied to Jam! by Elektra Records, does NOT include any contributions by Beck, U2, or Rancid all of whom were tipped, at one time or another, to be supplying songs for the soundtrack. Nor is there any sign of the oddball duet between Lilith Fair mates Paula Cole and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott that was being touted by Elektra earlier this month. Among the 14 acts that DID make the cut, however, are a couple of surprise entries. Confirming recent rumors, Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher did indeed record a last-minute track for the album. It's called "Teotihuacan", presumably after the ancient Mexican city which is the site of the mysterious Sun and Moon Pyramids, and the Avenue Of The Dead. Also showing up is seminal L.A. punk outfit X, who provide a cover of the Doors classic, "Crystal Ship". Canadian content is represented by a remix of Sarah McLachlan's "Black". The "X-Files" movie soundtrack will be in stores in Canada and the U.S. on June 2, along with a companion album that will feature Mark Snow's score. The movie opens across North America on June 19. Meanwhil, here is the official track listing for the "X-Files" movie soundtrack: 1. Dust Brothers "X-Files Theme" remix 2. Filter "One" (Three Dog Night cover) 3. Tonic "Flowerman" 4. Foo Fighters "Walking After You" 5. Aswad featuring Sting "Invisible Sun" (Police cover) 6. Ween "Beacon Light" 7. Cardigans "Deuce" 8. Better Than Ezra "Murder In This Town" 9. The Cure "More Than This" (Roxy Music cover) 10. Bjork "Hunter" 11. Soul Coughing "16 Horses" 12. X "Crystal Ship" (Doors cover) 13. Sarah McLachlan "Black" remix 14. Noel Gallagher "Teotihuacan" 15. Mike Oldfield "X-Files Theme" (bonus track on "international" version. It is not clear if this track will be included on the version of the album that'll be on sale in Canada) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 22:03:59 -0500 From: "Victor Hastings" Subject: Re: [AVALON] X-Files soundtrack ready to go - Including Roxy cover - -----Original Message----- From: David Nickel To: avalon@smoe.org Date: Thursday, April 23, 1998 7:25 PM Subject: [AVALON] X-Files soundtrack ready to go - Including Roxy cover >Hi all...how do you think this will turn out? > >(cut and pasted from somewhere (can't remember where) on the net) >... (snip) >9. The Cure "More Than This" (Roxy Music cover) odd choice considering the merchantless maniacs covered the same song last year. why not use the original? the cure is IMHO a boring mope rock band that is not nearly as deserving of the pub as RM. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 02:03:52 -0400 (EDT) From: shin Subject: Re: [AVALON] X-Files soundtrack ready to go - Including Roxy cover Cure doing More Than This will be interesting. I didn't really like the Maniacs cover. It was little to up beat for me. Maybe RM/BM will finally get some recognition in this country. Having 2 different artist cover your song w/in a year will prompt people to go out and pick up Avalon at least. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 02:09:27 -0400 (EDT) From: shin Subject: [AVALON] Japan Best of BF available at Musicblvd I just ordered one today. It was like $27 and change. What I did was I went to this promo site where you can get one time $15 discount and used it towards my purchase and picked it up for $15 including shipping. The site is: http://www.musicblvd.com/gift once you get there, you will get the instruction of what to do. If you don't have an account w/ them, you will have to open one, of course. One thing is sometimes they don't always deliver on import CDs so it is still remains to be seen.
