Don't song's become public if not copyrighted after so many years? 20 or something... I like to imagine thats what happened here. :-) Graham Howard wrote: > > Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 21:40:45 +0200 > > To: avalon@smoe.org > > From: Bahi Para > > Subject: Re: [AVALON] Roxy are "Cool" ... official > > Reply-to: avalon@smoe.org > > Two excellent songs but we never thought he'd be [selling] a Rover. Fine vehicles in every sense of the word, functional, dependable. They've had aluminum bodies for 20 years or more, and they cost a fortune over here. And am I understanding that you would begrudge Bryan selling a tune for an advert. Nobody ever hesitates to blow sunshine up David Bowie's ass at 90 miles an hour and he is responsible for that pathetic "We could be Microsoft heroes" commercial. I say more power to him. Just the fact that they want his music to make a statement for, or an association with their product is a form of compliment. And more importantly it's a compliment with a cash attatchment, and that's one of the best kind. Who here feels that any BF/RM songs are not worthy of keeping copyrights on? Probably not Bryan. Remember the Micheal Jackson buying the Beatles (or was it just Paul McCartney's) song rights scandal, those songs were old. Do you think Bryan would just let his stuff drift into public domain status, or no one would pick up the rights, come on. I'm sure the value fluctuates but abandonment is probably not an option.
