Anyway this is not my reason for writing. I was in a second hand video shop the last day and caught site of one of the music club videos that someone was talking about recently. I bought the video featuring material from 1975 including two Roxy track. One is an excellent live performance of Love is the Drug which does'nt feature on Total Recall. The other is the performance of Both Ends Burning which does feature on T.R. The only difference is an extra few seconds at the start and end on the M.C. video. This was the first time I noticed that the original album version is dubbed over a live performance and this is clearly evident from the last few seconds of the video. On the back sleeve of the video there is a picture of Bryan. There is also details of further videos in the collection. The 1972 video features Virginia Plain as mentioned on the list a few weeks ago, the 1977 video features Ferrys This is Tomorrow and the 1979 video features Dance Away. Has anyone any details on these performances? I also noticed in Jerry Halls "Tall tales" that she says B.F. made a number of videos in the mid 70's and that she got into most of them. However apart from L.S.T. I cannot think of any other video appearances by her. Can anyone else? Finally has anyone ever thought about gathering all the T.V. performances of Bryan together on one tape. Perhaps members from the list could send their footage to one person on the list who could copy it all onto tapes and then sell it which would mean making a few ponds. Obhiosly this would mean only material that has'nt appeared on official videos i.e R.M. on the road, Total Recall, The High Road, New Town and The B.F. & R.M. video collection. I would volunteer except that I'm a student and therefore skint but anyone with a few pound to put into it could make a few pound themselves in the long run. As I've only been a Ferry fan for a few years I dont have much video footage to offer but heres what I do have: The Music Club video performances (1975), performances of All I want Is You, and Dance Away from Top OF THE Pops 2 and a 10 minute documentary on Mamouna featuring interview with all involved in the making of the album. So hows about it? Have we any volunteers? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 15:50:50 EST From: ASchulberg Subject: [AVALON] Is Your Love Strong Enough Who are the sax and guitar players on "Is Your Love Strong Enough"? The sax part sure sounds like Branford Marsalis. Lead guitar is by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour but there's at least one other guitarist in there somewhere, playng a repetitive riff. It sounds a bit like something on the instrumental version of Valentine and quite a few things from Taxi and Mamouna. Makes me wonder if it's Ferry, perhaps on guitar-synth. Bryan once claimed that the song was about the struggle between good and Evil; are these represented by the sax and guitar parts? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 20:37:46 +1200 From: Warren Loveridge Subject: [AVALON] Re:Is Your Love Strong Enough Bahi Para wrote: > > Arnie asked: > > >Who are the sax and guitar players on "Is Your Love Strong Enough"? > The sax > >part sure sounds like Branford Marsalis. > > Certainly does, but I've never seen a credit. Being an arch Pink Floyd fan, I'm curious about this track since I haven't come across it before. Gilmour recorded quite a bit of guitar for Bete Noire (does anyone know which tracks, please?) but this song isn't on that album. Does it date from the same period? I'd love to know more. ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V3 #70 *************************** ======================================================================== Please send any questions or comments about the list to avalon-digest-owner@smoe.org
