I`ve seen this item for sale in various issues of "Goldmine" magazine on laser disc from Japan. I`ve never inquired about them because, well, I don`t own a laser disc player nor do I know anyone with one. Most of these LDs come out of Japan and are rarely advertised in the U.S.. I`m not sure if the same is true for Europe, but there are many titles out there that few of us know about. For instance, I`ve recently traded for a video with a '79 Manifesto show (I haven`t yet been able to identify the location). It also contains about half of the '76 Stockholm show (same as the Funky Chick/Silk Circles boot). Both of these shows were recorded from a Japanese laser disc. Perhaps if there is someone on this list in Japan, they may be able to shed some light on this. There's a kind of vague Roxy link to the band Garbage. Lead singer Shirley Manson is interviewed in The Face Feb 98; there's a mention in the article of a whiteboard listing work to be done on the new album with one of the scrawled lines reading "Roxy Music-ish B-side."...and that's pretty much it. (Her fellow band-member Butch Vig was once president of a Roxy Music fan club, according to the big Guardian article on Roxy that Chris posted.) If anyone's heard these, could (s)he please post a brief review? The Eno mix on the Mamouna CD single was fantastic - could have made an album out of that one track. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 01:20:52 -0500 (EST) From: shin Subject: Re: [AVALON] BF/RM Video Collection I have the LD of the video collection and it an excellent disc. It is only availble on LD from Japan. To those in US w/o LD player, you can also purchase a VHS copy of it from Virgin Japan label. It is in NTSC format so it will play in US VHS players. The same video is available in Europe for much less but it will not play in the US VHS players.
