If you mean the article from the Sept/Oct '94 issue of Arena, you can find it at: http://www.cco.caltech.edu/~bryan/roxy/album_review2.html If you are referring to the Nov/Dec '87 article, then I don't have it but would love to add it to the website if you'll provide it. I've also added a very interesting article from The Guardian. You can see that here: http://www.cco.caltech.edu/~bryan/roxy/guardian.html Bryan To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 1997 17:05:55 -0500 From: "Victor Hastings" Subject: Fw: [AVALON] New topics > > Just in case anyone is listening "HEY PHIL, IT"S TIME FOR A NEW ALBUM!!!" > You too Bryan. But the second best thing to a new release is finding out about an old one you've never heard before. I understand that altho the Explorers never released a second album, Manzanera & Mackay released some of those tracks on an album or EP called, well, "Manzanera & Mackay ." Is it available on CD, if so is it still in print & if so is it as good as the first round of Explorers releases? I liked the 12" singles and the album a lot. Much better than Phil's collaboration with John Wetton. I have 2 different Manzanera/Mackay cd's, "Crack the Whip" and "Up in Smoke". Both are full length. Between the 2 they include the entire Explorers album and another albums worth of material, besides. Some of it was good, some was a little spotty, IMHO, but I thought the Explorers album was a little spotty in places also. If you liked the Explorers album, you should like this fine. HOWEVER, after typing this I decided to check out what CDNOW listed. They have an import disc called "Manzanera and Mackay" that has all the non-Explorers tracks on one disc. So there is your answer, I guess. Also, Artists Shop still lists the live Explorers and the other live Manzanera/801, both of which I have yet to check out. All this stuff seems to be coming out on Blueprint, Resurgence or related labels, and I'm really unclear on the relationships between them. I know it was insane trying to track down that Quiet Sun reissue. >Much better than Phil's collaboration with John Wetton. YUCK!! Without a doubt the worst record ever released with Phil Manzanera on it. (IMHO, of course, as usual) Bye; eriks@on-ramp.ior.com http://www.ior.com/~eriks To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V2 #7 ************************** ======================================================================== Please send any questions or comments about the list to avalon-digest-owner@smoe.org
